If the Republicans steal the election, should there be an uprising?

You know they've got the machinery in place, you know they've done it before. No amount of excuses and "polling errors" could disguise the fact that John McCain will not win unless the election is rigged.
So, would this be the excuse for that armed insurrection that gun owners have been waiting for? Or will those guns come out to defend McCain and his stolen victory?

I wasn't aware ACORN was a GOP supporting/ed organization.

We should start an armed revolt over what unofficial polls-for-profit with big margins of error say?

Anyway, should either party steal the election, armed revolt should not be considered unless the other 2 branches of government refuse to remove the usurper.

Bradley effect

The Bradley effect, less commonly called the Wilder effect, is a proposed explanation for observed discrepancies between voter opinion polls and election outcomes in some US government elections where a white candidate and a non-white candidate run against each other. The effect refers to a supposed tendency on the part of some voters to tell pollsters that they are undecided or likely to vote for a black candidate, and yet, on election day, vote for his or her white opponent. It was named for Tom Bradley, an African-American who lost the 1982 California governor's race despite being ahead in voter polls going into the elections.

The Bradley effect theorizes that the inaccurate polls were skewed by the phenomenon of social desirability bias.
Specifically, some white voters give inaccurate polling responses for fear that, by stating their true preference, they will open themselves to criticism of racial motivation.

How has ACORN affected the election. Will Mickey Mouse actually show up to vote? I don't think so.
As for the "Bradley Effect", last week in Denver the McCain handlers were pleased that he drew a crowd of 4,000. The next day Obama spoke in Denver and drew a crowd of.....100,000.

Al Gore won the national popular vote, but still lost the recount in Florida in 2000 - in a state led by Governor Jeb Bush and a Supreme Court with George Bush Sr. appointees.

Despite GWB's claim of "compassionate conservatism," liberals and democrats have had 8 years to stand on the outside and take a long, hard look at Republican "hardball" politics - Karl Rove style.

In 2008, the Democratic Party have started to produce a "new breed" of candidates who are willing to "take no prisoners," and go "head to head" with the Republican "mudsligers" -without "blinking."

If the Democrats end up in control of Congress and this happened, then everyone should lean as hard as they can on Congress for a full investigation.

Especially if the Democrats have a filibuster-proof Senate.

Of course with so much un-auditable electronic voting in the US it's not like you can even be sure of any election result anymore. The systems have been proven to be insecure, poorly designed and practically fraudulent when investigated, yet they're still in use, still secretive and still responsible for the majority of votes cast.

Regardless of who prevails, why is anyone happy to let that situation continue. If Obama wins this year, with odd results and 'voting irregularities' will the Republican supporters still be happy to have a system that provide absolutely no accountability?

Typical cute right wing response. Quote to me where I cried "foul". I cited a NYT story of how blacks in Jacksonville expect to be disenfranchised. Republicans have had 8 years to fix the system in their favor, starting with stealing the 2000 election. We know they have no reservations about cheating, it falls under "whatever it takes". Now can you contribute some intelligent insight to the conversation, or will you continue with the phony amusement?

C'mon people, let's set the partisan BS aside for the moment.

I think most people of all political persuasions agree that there are problems with the way elections are conducted in the US.

Now when one candidate is far ahead this doesn't matter.

It does matter in close elections though - and with all the science being devoted to elections more elections are getting to be close elections rather than landslides for one side or another.

Of course many of us are guilty of asserting that when our person loses it is election fraud but when our person loses the election was fair or they won in spite of fraud by the other side.

What we need is a commitment to honest and transparent elections all over the nation.

What we need is to admit is that neither party has much of an interest in honest and transparent elections, and that the people need to stand against their parties to make this happen.

Well you have to wonder what else republicans have in store for the election.

We already know they are willing to murder people over it.

John McCain will probably win the electoral college. While Obama will win the popular vote.

The only alarm of shenanigans will be if McCain wins the popular vote.

Seriously, McCain is not "probably" going to win the electoral college. He is almost definitely not going to get within 30 college votes of achieving that.

George Bush Sr. appointed two Justices to the Supreme Court. One of those Justices dissented against the ruling which ended the illegal third count of votes in Florida. Try educating yourself before posting such nonsense next time.

Since our left leaning friends generally interpret Repeublicans getting more votes as Republicans stealing the election, I would say an uprising would be out of order

No, we mean efforts led solely by Republicans to suppress voter turnout in Ohio, New Mexico, Indiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Montana, Florida, Wisconsin, and Colorado:

http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/republican_voter_suppression_a.php

However, feel free to keep pretending your Jesus party would never ever do such a thing.

Since you mention the Supreme Court, the ultimate insult to constitutional democracy was perpetrated by the court during Bush v. Gore when they decided that a recount would cause "irreperable harm" to Bush. This is not nonsense, it is our history, no matter how embarrassed we are by it.
