To find out what overcome is we see 2Pet. 2:20 these are Christians who by grace have been delivered from the corruptions of the world.
In Rev. 3:5 verses 1-4 we have a church named Sardis. They are not total lost to God but need to repent. How can it be that they will blotted out of the book , which means not saved. It appears that we have here a saved people who will not make heaven. If they do well and keep the faith, they are saved. Looks like they can live in worldly evils and lose it. They must be over comers of sin and walk in grace and obey God's word.

One can be blotted out through sin or apostasy. The new testament is quite harsh on those who do that.
