I am wondering how Christianity is considered "true" as a faith, while Islam, for example, is false? I am well versed in the Christian/Jewish bible and have read the Qur'an as well, though my knowledge of the Qur'an isn't as good.

I am wanting to know some hard evidence why Christianity is true over other religions. The more detailed sources the better. I am a serious seeker and investigating the truth, historically and factually behind these faiths.

Thanks for replying, I will try to address every point if I can.

Hello Atrophy,

I'm going to begin with a set of short questions. I pose them not so much to have you answer them, but rather to catalyze your thinking as to how a comparative evaluation can be legitimately made between the two religions. I'm doing this because you used the term 'evidence,' and I'm wondering what 'evidence' means in this case of comparison.

And my questions are these: How do we become aware of the kind of epistemological framework we should use to evaluate either religion? Do either of these respective religions imply any particular cognitive framework by which we can, and should, make our evaluations? What does the Qu'ran imply? What does the Bible imply?

Peace

The way to decide whether or not the tenets of a religion are true or not is whether or not those tenets ultimately appeal to the higher angel of our human nature, or whether they entice us to succumb to the baser desires of the beast inside.

How do we know that Christianity is true and that Islam is false? The simple answer is, because the Bible says so. BUT, that begs the question, how do we know that the Bible is true?!

If the Bible is true, Christianity is true and the God of Christianity is the one, true God, and by extension, all other religions are false because they all have one, or more, beliefs that contradict the essential truths the Bible.

The Bible was written over a period of 1,600 years, by 40 God chosen men, who lived on 3 separate continents and they all wrote about the same thing, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There were no mail delivery trucks, no drop ship planes, no Federal Express, no UPS and no email, yet when all of the writings were put together they present one unified message. The Bible is truly the inspired Word of God.

If the Bible is true, Christianity is true. How much research have you done on proving the validity of the Bible? Following are some topics and links I hope you will look into, concerning the validity of the Bible. Please lay your doubt aside and proceed with an open mind, and heart, and see what the evidence has to say.

Biblical prophecy is one of the strongest proofs for me. No one, but God, can tell you what's going to happen, before it happens, with 100% accuracy. Two, of the many, incredible prophecies of the Bible is the foretelling about what would happen to the city of Tyre~~~> http://apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=13&article=1790 and the Rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948~~~> http://www.grantjeffrey.com/pdf/JeffBIBLE-EzekVision2.pdf.

If the Bible is true, Christianity is true. In Christianity, faith is required but it does not have to be a blind faith.

It is good that you are familiar with the bible. The bible is a supernatural creation by God. Hebrew 4:12 says, "the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword..." What that means is the the Word is supernatural; It is Jesus, Himself, John 1:1. He orchestrated the words and ideas contained in the bible via the Holy Spirit moving human authors to compose the writings therein. The bible alone has changed many millions of lives thru all the ages. The bible contains only the truth and that is the basis for having faith that can push through a wall of opposition on to victory.

A well-known example is that of Corrie Ten Boom carried along by her faith while she was in a Nazi concentration camp with her cohorts/relatives dying around her. She was released before the war ended in, what she describes as a clerical error. Her book, The Hiding Place, 1971, would probably answer some of your questions.

The experiment I propose for you is to be open to the idea that the Christian bible has the answer to all of life's questions and to read it with that in mind. It tells how to be saved and get to heaven. It reveals how to become a member of the family of God and, in this life, it tells how to prosper and have victory in every area. It reveals what can be known of God, that He loves you, is reliable and unchanging and that if you do things God's way, you will see supernatural victory in your life

These are answers that you should not rely on anyone to supply; you only should supply the answers you seek; in the end you have to. The bible will speak to you with the right answer, as the counsel of God, if you permit God to guide you.

God always puts the burden on the seeker to take the first step and to do so by stepping out in faith. The realistic first step is to begin reading the bible with the objective that you seriously want to learn how to do things God's way. The thing about faith is that you cannot just try faith. Faith has to be single-minded with no provision made for faltering, equivocating or stopping. Anything other than that is not faith and, very predictably, will fail by definition.

The short answer to your question is that you have to give Christianity a serious trial. The serious person will get a convincing answer directly from God.
