Then hopefully you understand why I don't either. Basically, I expect support from Americans on this issue! Your whole nation was founded as a rejection of inherited privilege, so I don't expect you to support it elsewhere.

Hold on, I was very careful in my wording. I didn't say that we beat the Brits in 1776, I said around 1776. I get to Yorktown at least once a year, sometime more often--I'm fully aware of how and when the war ended. Washington was a smart man. He lost the majority of his battles, but he kept the army intact. He knew that if he did that the Americans would ultimately win the war. Oh, and we didn't have to beg the French very hard, they were looking for a way to get back at the Brits.

I was just kidding. I've never been to Yorktown actually, though I have been to many of the Independence sites around Philly and in New England. I'll get down there one day. And I concede the point about not having to beg the French!
