Celebrating Independence Day in the most Southern way.

Southern Living Blueberry Pie ready to serve with a slice cupt out

FRED HARDY, FOOD STYLIST: MARGARET MONROE DICKEY, PROP STYLIST: CALEB CLARKE

July Fourth is a day full of fireworks and celebration. It’s a time when we remember those before us and the sacrifices they made for freedom, as well as gather with those we love and have an excuse to pull out and wear our red, white, and blue. It’s also a time when we enjoy all of our favorite Americana recipes. Favorites with ingredients like Jell-O mix, mayonnaise, and a whole lot of butter are bound to make an appearance at any 4th of July picnic and serve a whole lot of nostalgia along with them. Most of the classic cookout fare we love today, from Coleslaw to Peach Cobbler, originally came from our Grandmother’s kitchens. For the Fourth, celebrate her legacy by serving up these delicious recipes that are sure to bring back memories of Independence Day parties of the past.

Grandma always has a sleeve of saltines on hand, so why not use that pantry staple to make Grandma's favorite savory pie? The crust perfectly complements the cheesy filling.
