• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

can it be true that God could be talking to me or demons talking to me about things. Because they talk about things that are like talking what is happening around me. And talking about my cat that passed away.

can pets be reborn? I like to know my cat can come back to me in the second life.

I have, years ago, thought that God was talking to me in my mind, and I even went around talking back for a short period of time, but as I'm healing from schizophrenia, I've learned that God don't talk to people in their minds, except for the few prophets a long time ago, prophets which none of us are. God does listen, and He does give us an assurance, a peace in our minds, but He doesn't talk the way you are thinking; He does silently guide and help, but not talk that way.

There will be animals in heaven, for Jesus ate fish with His resurrected body, but no one but God knows if our pets will be resurrected.

I m not sure if pets can be reborn but I do know that the relationship and bond that you have with your pet can be eternal. Love still lives on even if our pets passed away. Take comfort that they lived a happy fulfilling life. You know that's true because they are under your care and you know that you have done everything you could to take good care of them.

Now give that same love to the next pet as well.

God and demons can certainly speak to you. The hardest thing is discerning what is God, and what are demons. I would recommend trying to ignore voices, especially if they are talking dribble.

The best thing to try to do is read your bible and learn about God, learn his character, learn to love God and others. If you want to be able to discern God's voice just pray a lot, and my advise is don't act on any voices, some times demons will try to get you to do stupid things to make your self look silly. God will just gently reveal His will in your life.

As for pets, I don't know, God could give our pets in heaven, there is no reason why not. But I don't know. But there will certainly be animals in heaven.

careful with bible reading and hearing voices. Intrusive thoughts can really mess with your understanding of things, especially if you're under some type of delusion. Trying to ignore voices is a good start, but it seems like they are to distract you, and to mess with you as much as possible.

Hi Icefloret and Everyone :) seems like this is a common question. It's tough to know when and how we should be hearing from God as people talk about hearing God speak, but seldom explain how this should sound. Hearing from God shouldn't be the same as hearing audible voices the way we do when speaking to each other. So if you do hear Him or demons as someone mentioned, in an audible way it's probably more a case of your mind turning the sound of your thoughts up a little too high.

If this is the case the best thing to do is don't panic. And if upon reading this you think you may have unintentionally developed a few bad habits when it comes to hearing God's voice, don't worry. The mind is designed to be very creative, and it learns habits - good and bad - very quickly. It's quite simple once you know how the dialogue between God and Men should sound for most followers, to reign any less healthy patterns back in until you achieve a more healthy dialogue.

Here are a few pointers to help make conversing with the Lord a little clearer:

1. When it comes to communicating with God via our minds, generally speaking the 'voice' we hear shouldn't be heard with our human ears at all. It's a voice that usually sounds like a thought. Hearing from God via our minds, mostly forms part of our 'thinking' process. It shouldn't be audibly heard outside of our heads. Knowing how a conversation with God should generally 'sound' will help you to bring any loud voices back down to a healthy level, and the conversations between you and God to a place of truth instead of one your mind might be having fun exaggerating or even creating.

2. Do demons speak to us in audible voices? No, this should not be happening. When God created the Heavens and Earth He gave the world certain rules and boundaries. There is a spiritual life and there is the physical life. We don't visibly see demons or hear them speaking to us in an audible way via our physical lives. Imagine how frightening that might be. But we do hear from demons in another way. Often via our emotions and via our thoughts. Sometimes you might think of doing something bad. That thought definitely does not originate from God. Again, these voices should not be audible. They will usually come as a thought. When the devil gives us a thought it is often disguised as our own so we might be more likely to follow the bad advice. Getting it right isn't always easy. But God gives us discernment to recognise His voice from that of the devil. And as we grow in the Lord, we get better at being sharper listeners!

I hope you'll find that helpful. And don't forget, there is a wonderful and powerful blessing that our Lord has ordained upon His children:

"For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Tim 1:7. (American King James version). So explore this blessing with God and enjoy being on your way to experiencing a happier and healthier soundness of mind.

May the Lord bless you on your journey :)

From, God's Little Helper

This simply is not true however when a demon is talking to you he is talking through you and when you hear it the words come out of your own mouth but not in your voice.

This. Exactly. When God "speaks" to me, it's never in the form of auditory voices but rather an innate sensation as well as the physical revelation of His will. The voices in my head are always demons attempting to lead me towards self-destruction, which my mental illness makes me more vulnerable to. Don't listen to the voices, listen to Him is always good advice.

"Innate sensation" is that like intuition or a strong idea to do something when you werent even thinking on your own? Like sitting there zoning out and blam! Amazing idea..
