We need to have tougher requirements to get a driver's license in the US as well. How about this?

1. You must prove that you are a legal citizen of the USA (birth certificate or proof that you have passed the citizenship test)

2. Must have lived in the country for 2 years prior to application.

3. Must at least have an high school diploma or GED.

With these requirements, it would clear up the roads a little bit..

It can take as long as 10 years for someone to become a citizen. How should the lawful, legal, permenant resident get to their job priot to becoming a citizen? (and permenant residents have gone through a loooong process and paid $$$ for that green card).

2. Must have lived in the country for 2 years prior to application.

How are the recent, lawful, legal immigrants suppose to get around? Immigrants are a vital part of our economy and our society. Shutting them out of a drivers license isn't economically sound or feasable if you want integration.

3. Must at least have an high school diploma or GED.

So no more right of passage, getting a driver's license at 16?
