Gay Activists Try to Stop TV Report on Lesbian Gang Attacks

High school students are the victims. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has apparently threatened to sue a Tennessee TV station for airing a report on lesbian gangs attacking students.
Jack Peck, general manager of WPTY in Memphis, said the station agreed to make some rewrites before the story aired in February, but that wasn't enough to satisfy GLAAD.
The story featured an interview with Shelby County Gang Unit specialist Beverly Cobb, who said girls are being attacked in high school bathrooms and stairwells by members of a gang called GTO or "Gays Taking Over."
“They are forcing themselves on our young girls in all our schools," Cobb said in the televised report.
The station gave GLAAD an advance viewing of the story. The group declared it “sensationalistic and homophobic.”

Peter LaBarbera, with Americans for Truth, said the station manager told him the group definitely did not want the story to air.

“A senior staffer told him several times, ‘We’re going to take you to court if you air this report,’ ” he said.
Similar gang activity is reported in New York,
Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. Linda Jernigan, a former homosexual, said that’s why GLAAD is making such an issue of the Memphis story.
“They don’t want this type of information to get out," she told Family News in Focus, "because then they know people’s eyes will be opened, they’ll begin to see this whole situation for what it really is.”

"Under intense pressure from local gay and lesbian activists, the affiliate's station manager finally admitted that WPTY-TV's reporters had neither independently verified the gang officer's overheated claims nor obtained any documentary evidence such as arrest records or written police reports to substantiate their tale. As the station grudgingly conceded, "Our investigation did not turn up widespread violence in schools due to this."

You can see a video of the news report there, with its black and white reanactment and fear mongering. No high school victims, no police reports, no outraged parents. Just unreliable claims and fear mongering.

Anyway I concur with the sentiments you expressed in your second post on this thread. This is a case of reporters going with the news they have... What did you expect? A smoking gun? A Perry Mason admission by the perps? Not likely.

My objection concerns the foul deeds of the liberal censorship gang again... this time directed at the local station. I have no fear identifying them as liberal since that is their chosen agenda. Homosexual agendists are now alligned with leftwingers and liberals. Just accept and admit that.

What 'liberal censorship gang'? According to your extremelly biased 'news source', GLAAD was given an advanced screening of a news report done with very poor and sensationalized journalism and objected to it. The story ran, nothing was censored. If some news agency tried to run a sensationalized, innacurate story about Christian gangs running around beating up Jews in high schools, and a Christian group objected to the story, would they be 'censoring' anything?

I am amazed at your bias. You are ranting and raving about the 'liberals' and the 'gay agenda' and trying to convince us how dangerous they are when this story is all about a biased and shotty news story, which the station seems to have admitted 'had neither independently verified the gang officer's overheated claims nor obtained any documentary evidence such as arrest records or written police reports to substantiate their tale'. Then you have conservative host Bill O'reilly covering the false journalism with unverifiable evidence brought forth by a member of a conservative megacurch who has also failed to back up his claims.

And you are still convinced that it is the 'liberals' who are dangerous and 'indeed the worst censors'? What is dangerous is people making fear based, unverifiable claims and others like you who report these claims without any investigation. Looks the proposed news story from the OP had no credibility. If this is proof of anything, it's that people will push an anti-gay agenda with complete disregard for the truth.
