:tutu:Hi, Dave! My mom was also Welsh.

What Would Jesus Do?

Dear Jesus, let me follow you
On Your rough and narrow way
And if I stumble from the path
Please help me, Lord, I pray
Be my Light, to guide me
Your love will see me through
Lord, let this be my motto
"What would Jesus do?"

Problems and decisions
That I have to face
Dear Jesus, won't You guide me
With Your Amazing Grace
In all of my life's burdens
And all I have to do
Lord, let this be my motto
"What would Jesus do?"

Help me to love my brother
A true friend I would be
Help me forgive my enemies
As You’ve forgiven me
In every situation
When I haven’t got a clue
Lord, let this be my motto
“What would Jesus do?”

Okay, so I wrote it...but it is still my favorite at the moment, since I heard my beautiful grand daughter sing it for her church!

Yes it would seem that we all have much in-common
Does your text also have a music backing ?

The King of Love my Shepherd is
singers.jpg

Hymns we love singing
Revd. Sir Henry Williams Baker [1821-1877]

The king of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his
And he is mine for ever.

Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul he leadeth,
And where the verdant pastures grow
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love he sought me,
And on his shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill
With thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread'st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
And O what transport of delight
From thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never:
Good shepherd, may I sing thy praise
Within thy house for ever.

The Old Rugged Cross Hymn

The Old Rugged Cross Hymn
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain

:)

How deep the Father’s love for us

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss -
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life -
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart -
His wounds have paid my ransom.

Just as all poetry, are just spoken songs
so, written-lyrics, are songs-unsung, outside the mind
Given heartfelt lip, they spring to life, the ear to-educate

erse 1:
In the Bible we read of a beautiful prayer,
A prayer (fervent prayer) sent to heaven above;
It was prayed by heart that was laden with care
And filled (it was filled) with such wonderful love.

Chorus:
(Alto)
When the Savior was praying
In the garden of Gethsemane,
He said, "Loving Father,
If You will let this cup pass from Me."
I know He was thinking
Of the anguish death would bring to His own,
How deep was His sorrow,
When Jesus was praying alone.

(Other parts)
When He was praying, Jesus was praying,
There in Gethsemane,
Said, "Loving Father," said, "Loving Father,
If You will let this cup pass from Me."
Know He was thinking, know He was thinking,
Grief death would bring to His own,
Deep was His sorrow, deep was His sorrow,
When He was praying alone.

Verse 2:
You can catch the sad tone of His voice as He said,
"Thy will (blessed will), not My own must be done."
As a lamb to the slaughter He soon must be led
To die (yes, to die) as the Crucified One.

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
As prayed there alone in such deep agony,
It was (yes, it was) a most beautiful prayer,
Just to think His great heart was all broken for me,
That He (yes, that He) my great sorrow must share.

(Chorus)

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”

Chorus

Victory In Jesus

I heard an old, old story
How a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning
Of His precious blood's atoning
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

I heard about His healing
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and brought
To me the victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea
About the angels singing
And the old redemption story
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory

O victory in Jesus
My Savior, forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

" What A Friend We Have In Jesus"

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
    Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
    Oh, what needless pain we bear,
    All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful,
    Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
    Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
    Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
    Thou wilt find a solace there.
  4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
    May we ever, Lord, be bringing
    All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
    There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
    Will be our sweet portion there.

Hi everyone,
I am enjoying your songs of praise. I like the ones I can sing acapella the most. Here is something I want to share. I don't think it is a song but a poem. But when I am down, it is a huge comfort to me. I found it in my mother's Bible after she passed.

GETHSEMANE

He sought a place
to pray and found,
Upon a slope outside of town,
An olive garden filled with trees,
on which there stirred
a restless breeze.

How sad His loved ones
never guessed
The weight of anguish
in His breast,
Nor heard His sighs,
nor saw Him weep,
For watching not, they fell asleep.

Each one of us must bear his share
of that lone hour's vigil there.
But with it promise of a dawn
of blessed peace
when night is gone.

Compared to Thine,
dear LORD I see
How small my own Gethsemane.
