So many people support causes they do not even begin to understand fully. For example, many people are today saying that Communism is not as bad as people think and/or that we in the US could make it work, whereas it has NOT worked at all in history, any place it was established. And not only did it never work, it is responsible for the murder of 100 million people!

No Christian can be a Communist. Communism (and socialism is just one step below it, some of us saying it is basically the same) means that those who run the government live well, while everyone else is "equally" poor, and WORSE: everyone (but the elites) is dependent on the central government... How nice for those who are in control, how AWFUL for those who are not.

So these people who have not studied Communism are doing protests about how the rich should be taxed more and etc.. not even knowing that the rich already pay something like 70% of the federal taxes and the poor pay ZERO.

So anyway, what if it were to happen that the US became Communist? I think we are quite a ways from that happening, but sometimes I seriously wonder about that... In any case, once the elites have used the everyday Ds (conned them into voting for them...) and have taken over and created the god known as central government... They will have about as much respect for those everyday Ds lives as they now have for

the unborn. The useful idiots, as they have been called, will suffer right along with the conservatives who fought to keep us from going down such a hideous path

From Google:
The top 1% of Americans control approximately 32.1% of the total wealth in the United States1. To put this into perspective, their wealth is roughly 16 times greater than that of the bottom 50% of Americans combined2. This economic disparity has widened over the years, with the wealthiest Americans benefiting significantly from stock holdings and real estate appreciation2.

So are you saying that if the wealth of the bottom 50% of Americans is 1/16th of the wealth of the top 1% that they should pay 50% of the taxes?
o_O

If the top 1% has 32.1% of the country's wealth, if they cover 32.1% of all income taxes paid that would just be their fair share. Taxes are progressive, but are also fair.

The millionaire and the hotel housekeeper both pay 10% income taxes on the first $11,000 of taxable income. They both pay 12% on the next $33,000 or so (single rates.) They only pay the highest rate (37%) on over $578,000 (single rates), not on their entire income.

As for "communism," it seems as if the Republicans are the ones who are buddy buddy with the traditional "communists." They are ready to hand Ukraine to Putin on a silver platter, the former president writes "love letters" to Kim Jung Un, etc.

Without a strong middle class, the rich wouldn't be rich. Their businesses depend on customers. Their restaurants depend on diners. Their hotels depend on travelers. In sharing their prosperity by assuming a slightly higher tax burden they are helping themselves, their businesses, the stock market (that also requires a strong base of consumers.}

Many economists say that when the 1% own more than 26% of the wealth, we are at a tipping point that can trigger a depression. This was the case in 1929...and in 2008. The Trump tax cuts were no favor to the greater economy. If he is able to continue, he probably just figures he can cut and run before the house of cards falls.

I don't recall saying anything you accuse me of saying

Other than that, I have things to do and cannot read your entire post at this time. I just know I didn't say what you first claim I said

Socialism, in some form, is freely accepted by all political parties in the U.S.

so it must be correct?

that's not true anyway. A true Republican is far from a socialist

And as the song says, "Nobody's right if everybody's wrong"

No, but it is what it is. Socialist ideas are imbedded in the US Constitution and whenever taxes are placed on the people for our common good, you have socialism. Our police, armies, border guards, schools, highways, etc... are part of socialism in America.

we need police and fire and border guards but we can do without the govt being involved in schools and other things. It has gotten to the point where we all think that the gov should solve any problem that comes up. That's like sending the 3 stooges to help build a house or whatever

It's hypocritical to condemn socialism when acknowledging you need socialism.

I didn't acknowledge anything of the sort. If the govt restrained itself to only police and fire, we'd be a WAY WAY better country.
