The EU court today canceleld the "safe harbor" agreement. It said that USA does not have acceptable data security and civil rights laws and the data of EU citizens is not safe in the USA. The fact that criminal organisations like the NSA collect personal data of EU cititezens and tehy can´t even defend themself was the reason the agreement was cancelled.
The effect is enormous. American internet corporations like Facebook, google, Amazon or Apple are no longer allowed to transfer any data from the EU into the USA. Since all those corporations have their HQ and data hubs in the USA but one of their largest markets in the EU...that means big trouble for them.
