Does Christianity (or any major Religion) Need a Witch To Burn?

This got me to thinking, is it possible for their to be a culture or society or religion without some evil other group to hate?

Identifying as a culture/society/religion/group necessarily comes with identifying others as not belonging to the group. Everything "us vs. them" starts from there. I don´t see how it necessarily results in hate, though.

Of course, there will always be a "them" and "we" are always advised to avoid "them."

Makes you wonder how we ever made it out of the stone age....

By conquering "them" and taking their stuff.

Inventing an enemy is politically useful. And so it tends to happen wherever there are people vying for power. Which more or less anywhere. Tony Abbott and Scott are very good at this in current Australia; for them it's "boat people".
