DNC Chief Plans to Raise Money From Americans in Mexico City

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez plans to hold party fundraising events with the American expatriate community in Mexico City next month.

Perez will participate in three events in the Mexican capital on Sept. 28, according to invitations obtained by Bloomberg News. The events range from happy hour drinks with a $25 minimum student entry to a dinner where tickets range from $1,000 to $15,000.

FYI this is actually not a Babylon Bee article. It’s real.
That's what I thought it was, satire of some sort from the Babylon Bee, but it isn't, it's real ^_^

That's the next step in the republican program. "It's not going to be enough to keep Americans in America from voting; we have to stop Americans who are overseas from voting."
Perhaps but the DNC campaign coffers are underwater right now. So it makes sense if you can’t get a “clink” in the money chest here in the US you send out folks to campaign in foreign countries.

Edit: it worked for Al Gore and China.

Seems as though it was plenty last election.

So it makes sense if you can’t get a “clink” in the money chest here in the US you send out folks to...

...contact American citizens in foreign countries.

Unless the republicans can find a way to take away their rights to vote, yes. They are likely working on that, now.

I find it interesting the DNC is ensuring all who donate prove their US citizenship

Makes no sense to Trump, who actively sought money from foreign sources. But it's the law.

Oh Bloomberg went off on a tangent in the linked article trying to justify the DNC going to Mexico. It has something to do with RUSSIA! and Trump. Lol

And still they lost control of the House and most of the down ballot places.
That was 2018. We are talking now in a Presidential cycle. But they will get there once the Democratic field narrows to 2-3 candidates.

I find it interesting the DNC is ensuring all who donate prove their US citizenship but Voter ID is somehow something they don’t support.
They don’t “ensure all who donate prove their citizenship” because they care.

It’s the law.

Yup. A Presidential election is a big difference.

People will come out for Trump and vote all red.

It’ll be glorious

I think it is good of Perez to do this. There are a lot of American citizens living in Mexico and other parts of Central America. I spend most of the year in Belize. There are lots of Americans here, too. And we vote.

Asking for a passport or green card is reasonable as the DNC is trying to follow federal law.

The article shows they took in half of what the RNC did.
And Clinton raised about twice what Trump did in 2016.

The RNC takes in money by corporate donors where many of the Dem presidential candidates are not.

And she still lost.

Hillary has Google in her pocket. Don’t give me the not many corporate donors. Facebook, Twitter and Google all gave her millions.

Trump has more small money donations than all the DNC candidates combined. Under $200 from normal citizens.

America is shouting “we want Trump”
At the top of their lungs.

2020 will be an awesome year.

Yes it is legal. As long as expats are only giving.
