The Diocese of Madison clarified late last week that the Church does not endorse nor oppose specific political candidates. At least two of the state’s bishops have reiterated to Catholics that the right to life is a foundational issue that should form their consciences as they decide how to vote on Tuesday.

The Diocese of Madison clarified late last week that the Church does not endorse nor oppose specific political candidates after a Wisconsin pastor urged his parishioners to vote Tuesday against state Supreme Court candidate Janet Protasiewicz, who is openly pro-abortion.

“The Catholic Church’s involvement in public life doesn’t extend to endorsing candidates for election to public office nor calling for their defeat and thus refrains from partisan political activities. The Church does encourage voter registration and encourages Catholics, as citizens, to vote and to be civically engaged,” the diocese said in a statement sent to CNA.

I would support that pastor, and oppose the bishops to their face - much how Paul had to oppose Peter at one point.

Janet is bad news - clearly. And the bishops are too worried about offending people or loosing their 501c3.

It's not all about politics, but when you have any official that's clearly working for the enemy, the stance should not be neutral. The statement should be on the teaching - you can't support pro-abortion candidates - period. Or pro trans, or pro-same sex marriage......
