You know the whole ACORN thing where those folks didn't have enough sense to kick out the fake prostitute is bad... those folks seriously needed to find a new line of work. Now this comes along and the Republicans are still in office...

Huffington Post Article said:
He went on to show video of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) arguing that it's not the government's place to decide who the government does business with and juxtaposed that with Republican sentiment on how the government should deal with ACORN. "I guess it's an efficiency thing. You don't want to waste tax-payer money giving it to someone who advises fake prostitutes how to commit imaginary crimes, you want to give it to Halliburton because they're committing real gang rape."

A White House spokesman said that the DoD opposition is overstated in the message sent to Congress. "We support the intent of the amendment, and we're working with the conferees to make sure that it is enforceable," said spokesman Tommy Vietor when asked about the DoD statement.
Ah, the old game of politics. If you aren't all for it, then your against it.
If your not for whatever proposed, then you support the crime.

DOD seems to have a good reason for seeking changes in the proposed law, they don't seem to be trying to protect the criminals.

IMO if they are serving the US, in a country that has no established or
court system is in turmoil, the US courts should be the default system.
IMO if the courts over seas can handle the problem, they will probably punish the offenders worse then the USA would. BUt the could also punish the victim.

In fact, the Obama Defense Department opposed the amendment. As current federal law states and the courts have already upheld in the Jones case, arbitration agreements are non-binding when it comes to criminal acts, like rape. Unfortunately, the Franken amendment was a cynical attempt by the trial lawyers to eliminate arbitration agreements, which limit their fees, behind the guise of protecting women."
Seems they might have other reasons for wanting this change?
