Could Romney be guilty of SEC violations for hiding his Bain 2002 departure?

The Boston Globe just released a report and verified by CNN that Romney may have lied on SEC documents to hide the fact he was still evolved with Bain up until 2002, not 1999 as he previously has stated.

Roberta Karmel, a former SEC commissioner who served during President Jimmy Carter's administration, said the documents raise questions about Romney's role at Bain after the GOP contender says he left the company.

"It's a criminal offense to file a false document with the SEC," Karmel said. "And if that isn't true, then he made a false filing, which is something I don't think he wants to claim."

She continued: "If he listed himself and he was getting paid, he was legally responsible."

"Either you're the owner or you're not the owner," Karmel added. "You can't have it both ways."

Or the documents are correct and all nice and legal, and he's just lying to voters about his work history re: BAIN.

Or it's all BS and poor/false reporting.

I'm sure we might get to the bottom of it eventually ;)
Can he use Executive Privilege? ;)

Maybe. :p. Would it stand up to a DOJ, Holder prosecution?

:D

You know, we make faces and laugh, but the level of corruption in our system is getting towards Biblical proportions. (figure of speech, there is very little Biblically good about all of this)

We're at the point where corruption is so prevelant, we don't just accept it, in some cases we're defending corruption as capitalism and American values. :sorry:

Would Holder bother to prosecute?

It's basically the same type of charge they got Martha Stewart on, just a different set of circumstances and motives. Romney's lies are unraveling faster than can be fact checked so I think there's more to piece together, before one could say definitively he could or should be charged.

When groups like the Washington Post and Factcheck.org side with the claims of the Republican candidate, you are pretty well assured there is absolutely no truth to the allegations.

And what's your theory on how the 3rd tower fell?

CNN reported last night that the accusations from Team Obama of felonious conduct are sheer nonsense and lies — and got that message from four executives at Bain, two of whom are “active” supporters of Barack Obama. John King spoke to all four, three of whom are Democrats, and all four said that Mitt Romney left Bain in a big hurry in 1999 in order to work full time on rescuing the Salt Lake City Olympics.

From Hot Air, which I cannot link to due to comments.

Unfortunately the SEC documents say otherwise. As does his attorneys testsmony given Wu en he was proving residency to run for governor.

...wu en?

Also, now Obama's backing off the felony charge. Looks like you're the lone hold out.
