Classes are slated to resume on Campus One at Anchovy High School in St James today, following yesterday's suspension in the wake of an incident in which the dean of discipline was attacked by a group of girls. He suffered a serious injury to his face.

According to Calvin G. Brown, chairman of the school's board of governors, during a meeting at the school yesterday - which was attended by members of the school's board of management, the Ministry of Education, the police and the academic staff - the specific incident and other recent acts of indiscipline were discussed and various decisions taken.

Classes To Resume At Anchovy High Following Attack On Teacher By Female Students

*** It is important to investigate the pattern of violent behaviour in Jamaica as much as possible. So for example, when a student or students are well-known bullies, instigating fights, and other violent acts a record needs to be kept of that student.

This record should have their full name, their nickname, their age, their sex, the year they were born, the community they are from, the community they live in now if different, their height, their weight, and every single incident of violence that student has been involved in. Also, write down a list of all their friends that also instigate violence. Find out also whether they are involved in active well-known gangs or gangs that are not prominent.

The persons committing the majority of crimes in Jamaica may be students or past students who already have a history of being very aggressive, of attacking others they perceive as being weaker or being too different. So, investigate the pattern of present students as well as past students who instigate violence and see whether these same persons are involved in crimes taking place now or that have already taken place in the past.

All these students should also have a full medical examination done to detect any sign of abuse. Also, a medical needs to be done to check whether their hormone levels are normal or unusually high. Whether they have an excessive amount of lead in their body etc. Whether they have a sickness that is not being managed properly. This may or may not have contributed or contributed to violent behaviour.
