Peace in Christ.

Christ is the Lord of both the dead and the living. But what does that mean really?

The “living” do not mortally perish but believe into Him. They have an age-lasting life….living until the end of this present, evil age that He delivers them through.

John 3:15-16
(15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal (age-lasting) life.
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting (age-lasting) life.

But not everyone has found that life. They perish. We have witnessed a massive destruction of people being led down the broad way to their mortal destruction.

Those who have “died”…mortally perished…did not hear the gospel of truth because of the false teachings of false prophets. They believed in Jesus but did not get His message….the glorious gospel of their Lord Jesus Christ because their church leaders did not understand it.

But Christ is still the Lord of them....Lord of the dead.

The “dead” shall be resurrected at the last trump while the "living" will hear the gospel of truth and believe and shall have an age-lasting life for the duration of this present, evil age. They will continue to mortally live until the last trump where they will put on immortality without seeing death.

The death and resurrection of Christ covers both groups for He is Lord of both the dead and the living: those who mortally perish and those who will not.

2 groups: those who live and those who die.

Rom 14:7-9 KJV
(7) For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
(8) For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
(9) For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

There are 2 resurrections being spoken of here by Jesus in John 11: one for those who die (who mortally perished and suffered age-lasting punishment) and those who do not die (those who have an age-lasting life who do not perish from this earth).

One resurrection is for the resurrection of the dead at the “ last trump” for those who believed in Jesus but have fallen “asleep”…those who have mortally died/perished.

The other resurrection is for the living…for those who do not fall “sleep” as they have an age-lasting life remaining here in this earth alive. They remain alive for the duration of this present, evil age that we are living in to the moment at the end of this age where they put on immortality.

Even though he may die, he shall live….as He IS THE RESURRECTION (of the dead). There is a distinction between the 2 groups (the dead and the living) being shown here in Jesus' response to Martha.

John 11:25-26
(25) Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
(26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (INTO THE AGE). Believest thou this?

Young's Literal Translation
Jesus said to her, 'I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;

He IS THE LIFE to the living.

The “living” shall not mortally die (perish) but shall have an age-lasting life. This is the “first resurrection” of the first-fruits of Christ. They live and believe into Him and shall not die into the age (this present age) but shall continue to live by their faith in Him. The living SHALL NOT DIE but will continue to live into this age...until the very end.

Young's Literal Translation
and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die -- to the age;

Those who believed in Jesus but have died/perished (being the flock of the slaughter): they believed in Jesus but were led astray by false prophets and have suffered loss- their mortal death.

They were led astray from the road that leads to an age-lasting life and went down the broad way that led to their mortal destruction. They did not hear the gospel spoken in the truth so that they may have an age-lasting life.

The “dead” shall live again though …at the resurrection of the dead….at the last trump. Jesus is the Lord of both the dead and the living.

This dove-tails into 1 Corinthians 15.

The “dead” who mortally perished from this earth shall be raised/resurrected incorruptible at the last trump…. while the living (who did not fall “asleep”…that is, did not mortally die/perish) shall not die and will put on immortality at that time.

The “dead” fell “asleep” while the living did not fall “sleep” in death.

1Co 15:51-54 KJV
(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The first group...the "dead" (the corruptible)...shall put on incorruption. The second group....the living...shall have their mortal bodies (which haven't died) put on immortality.

(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Both groups have victory over death. But the "dead" who mortally perished have then will have gone through an age-lasting punishment (being cut off from this earth)...while the mortal (those who did not die from this earth) will have had an age-lasting life until that moment.

Again, 2 groups being spoken of:

The "dead" = the corruptible shall have put on incorruption

The "living" = this mortal will have put on immortality.

(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

We...the living....shall not sleep as the "dead".

Lazarus “slept” in death….and was awakened out of sleep. The dead shall be resurrected at the end of this age while the living will continue to live through out this age and will never mortally perish and will reach the last trump moment alive where they will then have their mortal bodies changed into immortal. They will not have "slept". Not all will sleep.

Joh 11:11-14 KJV
(11) These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
(12) Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
(13) Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
(14) Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

MANY have gone in the way that leads to destruction….their mortal bodies have perished from this earth because of the false prophets that they were to beware of. They are the "dead".

But Jesus is still Lord of them…He is the resurrection (of the dead) and the LIFE (of the living)of those who find the way that leads unto life in this earth.

Mat 7:13-15 KJV
(13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

I agree with most of your post.

Please describe more about your beliefs concerning the "sleep" of every one who has died and will die before the great Resurrection of the dead which is described in the last chapters in the Book of Revelation.

Hi Vambram!

Thank you for reading.

By saying “sleep”, it means their death (being removed mortally from this earth) is not final (from our point of view in this earth) as they will be resurrected at the end of this age.

It is only an intermission for them so-to-speak until then.

It is like going to sleep at night....a period of time that does not last...for they will "awake" again.

Their death is not final…only age-lasting (for the duration of this age). It is a “sleep” for them until then as we will not see them until their resurrection at the very end of this age.

According to Jesus, Lazarus was only "asleep" until He raised him from the dead.

I believe that the spirits of the dead have gone back to God. They are still alive with God but God will give them a body when they are resurrected at the last trump moment and we shall see them again.

1Co 15:16-18 KJV
(16) For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
(17) And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sin
s.

Those who have mortally died are to be raised up in the second resurrection of the dead.

"We shall not all sleep".

The living do not fall “asleep” as they will continue to live here in this earth in their mortal bodies …they participate in the first resurrection (but without mortal death) as their faith in Jesus Christ keeps them standing here.

So “sleep” for those who have mortally died means that they have not completely perished for they will rise again in the second resurrection. It is only an intermission….again, like sleep is in the night. That is how we should think of their death as.

(18) Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

With this understanding, some will then question how the dead are raise up and "with what body do they come." They will want technical details of their resurrection as their mortal bodies have died. They died.

The living will not die as the living keep their mortal bodies in Christ throughout this current age.

1Co 15:35 KJV
(35) But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

Do you believe that the souls and spirits of the unsaved lost people after they die physically are consciously aware of their fate while they are suffering torment aka judgment from the Lord God before the great Resurrection and Lake of Fire judgment in Revelation 20?

The last Trump happens when Jesus returns .... When He returns all judgement has taken place .... the earth is left desolate (nothing alive) ... the saved from the 1st resurrection are taken to heaven for 1,000 years .... satan is left on earth with nobody to tempt ... thats how he is bound for 1,000 years ... after the 1,000 years the 2nd resurrection happens ... the New Jerusalem from heaven descends to earth ... Gods people are protected inside .... those from the 2nd resurrection along with satan and the fallen angels try to attack the city (battle of Gog and Magog - Armageddon) and God destroys them all for eternity.

Salvation is open to all until His return

Jesus finished all of the Father's work while He was on earth (next comes judgement) ... when He returns He returns in full power and glory ... nothing on earth can survive His glory .... the final judgement of all the wicked remains and His final judgement is He destroys all. He then creates the new heavens and earth that His people will enjoy for eternity.

Jesus said .... it is finished .... and it is ... we are waiting from Him to return and pick up all the survivors and destroy sin (that brings forth death) forever. Amen!! They were defeated at the cross.
