The new Miss England is a black woman, the niece of ex-world record runner, Linford Christie...

Is this something to be celebrated or something to be ashamed of?
That she is black is cause for neither celebration or shame. She's a beautiful woman, and should be celebrated as such.

That depends: does she drink strong coffee? If she does then celebrate away! If she doesn't, sorry dude it's "crying time again!".

Celebrated of course, like Douger said, because of the simple fact that she won.

Celebrated because she is the first black woman to have won an English beauty contest.

Shame because she won a beauty contest.

Sorry Tulc, not sure what you're talking about

It should be celebrated.
All races can win a beauty padgent, that puts looks above everything else.

Other then being a model, the padgents winners have little to show for their wins.
From the title, I thought it was the black miss America padgent, that unfairly limits the entrants based on race.

Maybe I didn't word the OP correctly.

My point was that it is a point of celebration that another area of society has been "equalised"...

But that it's a beauty contest... something I find unpleasant and depressing.

Another middle finger at the BNP... that's definitely something to be proud of.

Is it just me or is she a lot more healthier looking than most Miss american contestants? I think she is the first pagent winner who I think actually looks lovely and natural. She doesn't look plastic to me.

Well, I'm never too sure about beauty contests..not sure I see the point. Plus I've seen many people walking down the street who often look more beautiful than beauty contest winners.
And usually I think external beauty goes hand in hand with inner beauty..you can have what may be considerd a "plain" person, but there character and personality transform them (even with no make-up etc). I knew an elderly person..white hair, wrinkles etc whose inner beauty just shone out of her.
