The story made headlines for months. But for most atheists, it's not headlines or scandal they desire. They simply want to go about their own lives without hassle or pressure.

Sounds like pretty good advice for just about anybody.

If one wished to be considered thoughtful and considerate, he would be wise to refrain from making unfounded disparaging remarks about an entire group of people.

As most everyone else has said, I concur that this was a good article. Much more "fair and balanced" *shudder* than I was expecting, actually.

The only issue I had was how the article stated "Atheists forthrightly affirm that there is no God; agnostics simply say as humans we can never know," which ignores the "weak" and "strong" divisions within atheism, but I also realize the article wasn't meant to delve all that deeply into the subject.

All in all though I'd give it an A.

I'm actually not real fond of the article. It has a number of slight distortions.

The simplification of beliefs mentioned above.

The assertion that we believe in Reason.

Even the notion that we put faith in morality. I like the notion, but it would be a mistake to characterize that as a standard decision made by atheists as a group.

There was a slight tone of victim celebration near the beginning of the article that I can do without. It happens, yes, but I woldn't say we're an oppressed minority in the present climate. Not in any substantial sense anyway. Could become one very quickly, but that's not quite the same.

Anyway, it wasn't too bad, just not something I found real informative.
