Occasionally the Bible provides a rather succinct measure of modern American politics -

"Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished." Prov16:6

Not sure if I can think of a prominent public figure who might be perfectly described here....hmmmm....(scratching head...).....

And then to think who his greatest supporters and defenders are.....

What is wrong with this picture??? And one wonders how Anti-Christ will gain worshipers....it all seems rather simple - religious people are among the most gullible and ignorant of all humans (Jesus said it best - "the children of this age are wiser than the children of light").

People can boast of humble values but still point to someone who does something worse than them or has something different in riches
Anyone can call someone arrogant for speaking with authority claiming to be right, but then can nobody say they're right except for those who rise above chaos in darkness and those who accept the love of the Christ? Not by carnal values of worldly culture so much, not that it's not good to be polite in times of peace.
Do people only pretend to have forgiveness and forgive? If people apologized and repented, but high and low there's arrogance and pride and sin. But maybe not as you read those words, because to some refusing God and His word is not sin in their eyes.
But rather sin to them is to say they're wrong and pointing out what is right gently. But again, these words are gentle.

People are persuaded and tempted in flesh by the things they can see. People aren't interested in being sinless, only how an imitation would let be carnally favorable in their mind. Don't add or subtract from Scripture.

People want equality and to be called righteous, but they bribe judges and befriend those in power for favoritism. Don't call a wolf a sheep...even if it's dressed like one.
People are used to a politician kissing a baby. It's all an act. Job interviews, dating, sex...it fades so fast from the exciting intro to impress to get in power but then get lazy

Interesting that wording here "abomination" in reference to arrogance of heart!

This term abomination is also used in listing the reasons God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah --

49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.

Abominations are major sins, weighty, such as "even" the abomination of burning children, the worst of all their abominations, from Deuteronomy 12:31 --

"You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the LORD hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods."

So, we are seeing arrogance of heart said to be an abomination in Pro 16:5 here, and that's putting it on the level of the most major of sins, not a small thing, not a minor sin, but a heavy, weighty sin of great harm.

Just to be clear - I am talking about something that is so exceptional (not in a good sense) - as the little horn standing with a mouth of great boasting!!!

The insanity of it is that the magnitude of the sin will likely seem like nothing in such a day
A little lie, a bit of harlotry or pride, calling oneself good. EVerything a man does but it's so unfortunate how people see sin as no big deal. Only when it comes to light and someone powerful speaks how outrageous it is to call a small disobedience small and it has become the world babies are born into

Rather being called good is not a bad thing per se, but apart from the right faith (which is a great topic of debate throughout history and cultures), anyone who thinks himself godly has quite a responsibility

I fully acknowledge your point - and AMEN! We need pure hearts before God.

I am, however, speaking of exceedingly pompous boastings - in the temple - where it is not done in secret but shouted aloud the gloating of grabbing a woman by the genitalia and dragging her this way and that.....

In this light, let us review the text again -

"Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished." Prov16:6

And again the issue - those claiming to be of Christ - being the shock troops for this very abomination to Yah.....

We are truly in a season of darkness as no other - when so much light is available - the great falling away HAS happened - the man of sin HAS been revealed - that day may be closer than we think.
