The sudden noise caused Aram to fire the armbow reflexively. Time slowed as the deadly bolt glided on a beeline course past Jin towards its target. The gorpa had frozenn in terror, and now began to turn and flee... Aram saw the bolt pierce its ear... The gorpa tumbled to the ground...

Something heavy struck him in the back, knocking him headlong down the riverbank. Aram landed facefirst, tasted dirt and felt rocks bite his flesh. Desperately, he rolled away from whatever it was, fumbling for a weapon.
