One of the precious few times Mr. Obama told the truth is when he said this nation is no longer a Christian nation. Contrary to the public polls that show 70% of the people believe in God or attend church it does not mean they are Christians. A true Christian is one who has personally accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and follows His commands given in the Holy Bible and loves God as closely as he or she can according to the definition of love given in Corinthians. Jesus warned us that not everybody who says Lord, Lord (those who say they are Christian but their life style does not indicate they are) will enter the Kingdom of Heaven but only those who do the Will of the Father.

I must ask then "how can any supposedly born, again Christian vote for any form of legislation that supports the acts of homosexuality, same sex marriage, abortion, limits the free exercise of the Christian faith or worse still indulges in such practices when the Will of the Father is clearly against such practices? The Bible clearly indicates very few will make it into heaven for broad is the way and narrow is the gate for those to enter in. Christian analysts have found out that only two percent of the world's population will saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven--only two percent, not 70%.

How chilling and sobering are these facts. Jesus expects total obedience to Him. In fact God calls us to be Holy as He is Holy--no small task without being totally filled His the Holy Spirit and a life completely surrendered to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. After all Jesus' total obedience to the Father for the plan of Salvation to work cost Him His life but in the end wasn't worth it for all of us to know we have a chance to escape hell and be with Jesus forever.

Yes, this nation has turned away from God and the morality He gave us to follow in His Holy Word. Many of us condemn our national, state and local leaders for promoting or practicing these ungodly actions, which are actually abominations before God, but the fault isn't their's alone. Primarily the fault lies in the immorality of the people who elected them. Our leaders only reflect the morality of the people who vote them into office.. Therein lies the truth this nation is no longer a Christian or moral nation clearly echoing the reality of Jesus' statement that not everyone who cries Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom.but only those who do the will of the Father be they our leaders or those who elected them will be given that privilege.

Unfortunately the proof of what is now happening to America in God's resulting judgment now being reigned down on us in the form of more violent weather, mass killings, corruption in government is because of our immorality and unGodly practices which in the end Jeremiah Wright so correctly but in poor taste stated God is bringing His damnation down on America and the only way to stop it is to seek His face, humble ourselves and be willing to repent of our sinful arrogance and pride which has resulted in our immoral and corrupt nation. And one form of that arrogance is to keep saying, "God Bless America" when we should be saying, "God Save America". How can God bless a nation that is now turning further and further away from Him and reveling in the practices that He considers abominations before Him?

Wake up America and get the blinders off. We are unfortunately no longer a Christian nation and God knows that and so should we. He is fed up with our trying to mock and deceive Him in that area and bit by bit He is removing His protective hand over this nation. If only Mr. Obama would speak the truth more often maybe things could change.

One of the precious few times Mr. Obama told the truth is when he said this nation is no longer a Christian nation.

"... the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

Thomas Jefferson, Treaty of Tripoli, 1796.

Christian analysts have found out that only two percent of the world's population will saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven--only two percent, not 70%.

How did they come to this figure, considering that the Bible is fairly explicit in saying that you cannot judge whether a particular individual will go to Heaven or Hell? Maybe they're the unsaved wolves in sheep's clothing you're talking about here.

Old news -- we've seen plenty of bogus Christians around here.

Of course, they always seem to think they're the genuine article -- sad, really.

I must ask then "how can any supposedly born, again Christian vote for any form of legislation that supports the acts of homosexuality, same sex marriage, abortion, limits the free exercise of the Christian faith or worse still indulges in such practices when the Will of the Father is clearly against such practices?

Because as we all know, one demonstrates their love for God by hating the same things (and people) that He hates.

The Bible clearly indicates very few will make it into heaven for broad is the way and narrow is the gate for those to enter in. Christian analysts have found out that only two percent of the world's population will saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven--only two percent, not 70%.

Christian analysts? Amazing! People who know not only the mind of God, but the hearts and souls of every Christian in the world and can accurately determine their salvation status.

How chilling and sobering are these facts. Jesus expects total obedience to Him. In fact God calls us to be Holy as He is Holy--no small task without being totally filled His the Holy Spirit and a life completely surrendered to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Kind of explains the 2%, doesn't it?

Quick question -- are you one of the 2%?

After all Jesus' total obedience to the Father for the plan of Salvation to work cost Him His life but in the end wasn't worth it for all of us to know we have a chance to escape hell and be with Jesus forever.

Kind of makes you wonder why gruesome (albeit temporary) death was part of the plan, doesn't it?

Yes, this nation has turned away from God and the morality He gave us to follow in His Holy Word. Many of us condemn our national, state and local leaders for promoting or practicing these ungodly actions, which are actually abominations before God, but the fault isn't their's alone. Right, so let's take the log out of the eye of 98% of Christians before worrying about the rest of the country.

Sounds like God's going to keep killing everyone until we accept His love.

Wake up America and get the blinders off. We are unfortunately no longer a Christian nation and God knows that and so should we. Change takes effort -- not likely when it's easier to complain than to do.

Didn't Jesus PBUH, say to you love your neighbor? Do not judge unless you judge, for whatever measure you judge so you shall be judged? How about the massive amounts of ordinance dropped on two countries because of 9/11, when your New Testament says turn the other cheek?

Don't get upset and say the US is no longer a Christian nation, when you Christians tend to be the most violent, abusive and hateful individuals towards those who don't ascribe to your form of Christianity.

The state is inherently anti-Christian. You cannot love your neighbor and tolerate organized theft and violence against him. We have to stop serving two masters if Christianity is to flourish.

The United States was not founded on christian principles, contrary to what many christians want to believe. Jefferson himself was a deist and did not believe in christianity and so were several other of the founding fathers.

Also, the amount of people who "identify" as christians in the United States has always been overblown. People identify as christians out of habit, social pressure etc. and not out of having a true belief in the story.

The United States is slowly catching up to the rest of the civilized world, which has accepted the realities of the world we live in and science and simply see no compelling reason to stay on the christian bandwagon.

"... the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."

Thomas Jefferson, Treaty of Tripoli, 1796.
The Treaty of Tripoli Article 11 is a myth. However, that does not stop Atheists and others from citing it as evidence America is not a Christian nation. When in fact history demonstrates America was founded on Christian principles, God is evident throughout the founding, and even the system of law was based on Christian principles.

Source/Excerpt: The Treaty of Tripoli :

The numerous documents surrounding the Barbary Powers Conflict confirm that historically it was always viewed as a conflict between Christian America and Muslim nations. Those documents completely disprove the notion that any founding President, especially Washington, ever declared that America was not a Christian nation or people. (Chapter 16 of Original Intent will provide numerous additional current examples of historical revisionism.)

The Myth of "Article 11" = PDF

Article 11*
*This translation from the Arabic by Joel Barlow, Consul General at Algiers, has been printed in all official and unofficial treaty collections since it first
appeared in 1797 in the Session Laws of the Fifth Congress, first session. In a “Note Regarding the Barlow Translation” Hunter Miller stated: “...Most extraordinary (and wholly unexplained) is the fact that Article 11 of the Barlow translation, with its famous phrase, ‘the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion’
does not exist at all. There is no Article 11. The Arabic text which is between Articles 10 and 12 is in form a letter, crude and flamboyant and withal quite unimportant, from the Dey of Algiers to the Pasha of Tripoli. How that script came to be written a nd to be regarded, as in the Barlow translation, as Article 11 of the treaty as there written, is a mystery and seemingly must remain so. Nothing in the diplomatic correspondence of
the time throws any light whatever on the point.”

America is a Christian nation despite what a president worthy of impeachment at this point says.
That neither he nor the Legislature, nor the SCOTUS example Christian principles is not an indictment upon the American people or America itself. Rather it is a demonstration of the failing of those individuals entrusted by the people to uphold Christian values and as such it is a reflection that those failed individuals are not representative of the people nor the Christian faith.

Yet as we the people voted all but those in SCOTUS in, we shall payerfully vote them out. Or, in the case of the president, throw him out.

Time shall tell.

It really doesn't matter what the president says. It's all about the constitution. You know, that piece of paper that tells the rest of the world what we're all about. No where does it state the US is a Christian nation. No where.

If the US were not a Christian nation, God would not let the US rule the world. We are the 4th horseman to rule the earth for Jesus.

So Rome was a Christian Nation during the birth of Christ?

The Treaty isn't a myth. It's one of, if not our first international treaties unanimously signed by both Congress and the President.

God is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution, let alone Jesus and while many of the founders claimed to be Christian, they would be rejected by most Christians today. Thomas Jefferson rejected all of the supernatural elements of Christianity. Franklin, Madison, Adams, etc. rejected or questioned Jesus' divinity and the Trinity.

And I hardly think slavery, slaughter of the native americans, or the oppression of women are Christian principles. The First Amendment itself is in direct violation of the 1st Commandment.

America is a Christian nation despite what a president worthy of impeachment at this point says.
Nope, it isn't. Never has been, never will be. Our population identifies as mostly Christian, but that doesn't make us a Christian nation.

Well, there are a lot of people of a lot of religions, including Christianity here in the United States. There also a lot of people who don't have a religion. This is why we Catholics are trying to do the New Evangelization that I believe either Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI or Blessed (soon to be Saint) Pope John Paul II called for.

Unfortunately there is a lot of sin in our nation but there is a lot of sin throughout the world as well. I think the worst sins of our nation are abortion, gay marriage, and the like. Those things should never have been legalized anywhere.

Personally I hope for a day when the majority of the world's population is a part of the Church of God, the Catholic Church. I believe that if a larger majority of the world where practicing and devout Catholics then we wouldn't have so much sin in the world like abortion. I am sure that such things would probably still exist but I don't believe they would exist on such a large scale.

That said, even devout Catholics and other devout Christians are sinners. We all sin every single day. However, God does give us the grace to resist temptation. The 7 Sacraments that the Catholic Church has are God's means of giving us grace. I wish that more Catholics would go to Confession to be honest. Confession is a wonderful Sacrament which gives you God's forgiveness for your sins and gives you the grace to resist the temptation to sin in the future.

The unfortunate thing is, though, that it would seem the lines for receiving the Eucharist at Mass are much longer than the lines for Confession. I have to wonder just how many Catholics are committing the grave sin of sacrilege by receiving the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin. It saddens me to think that there might be a huge number who do.

Gay marriage is the worst sin? Give me a break:doh: If a minority of the population wanting to get married to the person they love who happens to be the same-sex trumps organized crime, murder, greed, poverty, war, corruption, etc. in your eyes, then I want nothing to do with your religion. I will remind you, Jesus Christ himself said nothing on the subject. He did condemn self-righteous conservatives more than anything else though.

Mark my words. The anti-gay crowd will deal with harsh judgement from God.

Hardly credible as an argument when God's decree, even in the Torah, and the Christians Bible as well, declares the Homosexual act is worthy of death.

And in the new testament decrees unrepentant fornicators, including those who engage in the homosexual act, shall not see Heaven.
It is therefore evident in scripture that it isn't those who adhere to God's word on this matter that shall be dealt the harsh judgment. Rather, it is the unrepentant sexually active homosexual that shall not see Heaven in order to gloat that God judges those who abide by his word that condemns the homosexual act.
