Here is an article I wrote on a needs-centered approach to life. When we focus on our needs (not to be confused with wants) and the needs of others we stay compassionate towards ourselves and others. We are able to give grace to ourselves and others as well.

Harmony of the Heart: A Needs-Centered Approach to Life

We all have needs. Needs can also be values. We all need food, air, shelter, love, to matter, purpose, etc. God created them so that we could experience life fully.

What if whenever someone does something it is to meet a need? Even when someone sins they are trying to meet a need. What if we could help people to discover another strategy for meeting their need? When we see people in this light we do not judge them or create enemy images. We assume innocence (that they are trying to meet a need and may not know of a better strategy to meet the need).

Well, I'd love to get feedback and thoughts.

Thanks!
