There was an age (1st age) before this current age(2nd age)

2 Peter 3:5-7
4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”

NIV:
5 But they deliberately forget that LONG AGO (1ST AGE) by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.

6 By these waters also THE WORLD OF THAT TIME was deluged and destroyed.(1st age)

7 By the same word the present heavens and earth (2nd age) are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

King James:
5.For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world THAT THEN WAS, being overflowed with water, PERISHED:(1ST AGE)

7 But the heavens and the earth, WHICH ARE NOW (2ND age), by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Noahs flood was not a universal flood but regional flood to that area (in order to destroy the giants(offspring of the fallen angels).

Otherwise there is no way that dove could have found a green olive branch with green leaves on it if the whole planet earth had been flooded... there would not have been any green trees or leaves for that dove to find.

The flood in verse 6 is what happened to that 1st age...there are different "dimensions"somehow.
God did not destroy "planet earth" that He created in that 1st age...he flooded it, ended that 1st age and we are in a different dimension somehow , and this 2nd age is on planet earth in a flesh body.. the eternity will also be planet earth as God is going to bring New Jerusalem to earth..

Who knows if any of the other planets were also inhabited in that 1st age besides planet earth... I am betting they were as it seems saturn is satans favorite planet.

Job 38
4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.

5 Who marked off its dimensions? SURELY YOU KNOW!

21 Surely you know, FOR YOU WERE ALREADY BORN! You have lived so many years!

Job was alread born... (that 1st age), just like we all were when God created us.. Sounds to me like we watched God create things.

Between Genesis1 1-2.. The earth BECAME empty or void..

God ORIGINALLY did not create the earth to be empty.... it became that way because God ended that 1st age because of the rebellion of lucifer and others..

There are 3 ages as 2 Peter 3 also talks about.

God created the earth and created all souls in the 1st age..."IN THE BEGINNING" is the 1st age. He created them male and female.. just not a flesh body.. our body was made of a different material than it is not... we have 2 bodies as 1Cor. talks about also. God called us "angels" or "stars" in Job 38 and throughout the bible.. pet names showing He loves us. God asked Job, Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth.... WE WERE THERE

Geneses 1 26-27 God is talking to us telling us He is going to make flesh bodies in the "same image"... That means we had to have an image/picture of ourselve before He made the flesh body. He ended that 1st age where were were"angel bodies material"... and said He is going to give us each a 2nd body... a flesh body for this 2nd age.

He also included HIMself in that HE also would have a flesh body in this 2nd age.

He did this in order to save His creation that fell in that 1st age.

We have no idea how long that 1st age lasted... but a long time becasue the earth is billions of years old.

The bible tells us that Lucifer rebelled in that 1st age and the people that followed him were "fallen" angels ( us people in that 1st age.. just different body material .. not flesh.....
God refers to lucifer as a "man" many places in the bible.

Nooone's 1st age body has yet been destroyed... not even lucifer/satan or those fallen ones. We just cant see our other body unless God allows it... like He showed many of the prophets their other body while they are in a flesh body here in this 2nd age. They saw themselves in Heaven walking around talking with people in HEaven and we know no flesh body can enter Heaven , only our angel bodies can. Those bodies live longer than our flesh one.

God gave each of us a 2nd body( a flesh one) for this 2nd age. The flesh body perishes and then we only have our "angel" body material one from the 1st age.

God had to bring Jesus in the flesh to pay the ransom price for all of us with his death on the cross... as we are all sinners.. noone can have eternal live until we unite our spirit with God's Holy spirit. We would all perish in our sins unless we choose Jesus as Lord. Our spirit needs the Holy Spirit to cleanse us.

This 2nd age is GOd's whole plan of salvation. Jesus came in the flesh to die in our place so we can be reconciled back to Father.

This 2nd age will end at the end of the mellenium.. there will be a great white throne judgment and those who refuse Jesus will go into the lake of fire and perish.

We are all only in our angel body at the 7th trumpet return of Christ, as all flesh will be destroyed at that trumpet.. people, animals... NO MORE FLESH... and the 1000 year mellenium begins... Lucifer/satan is in the pit those 1000 years and will be released to again test people.

We have 2 bodies .. one is 1st age material or angel body.. 1st age
one is flesh material body... 2nd age
male or female from the beginning

There is a 1st resurrection at the 7th trumpet wlhich is when we exchange out our mortal self for immortality... for those who chose Jesus before the mellenium begins.

The rest have to go thru the mellenium in mortal selves and try for the 2nd resurrection at the end of the mellenium.. but everyone only has their original 1st age body at the 7th trumpet... no more flesh bodies.

Lucifer and the fallen ones refused a flesh body for this 2nd age, and instead came to earth and had sex with flesh women to try to thwart God plan and prevent Jesus from coming in the flesh body in this 2nd age. God will destroy those fallen ones when He comes at the 7th trumpet.

All "flesh" bodies are destroyed at the 7th trumpet, as well as the fallen angel bodies.

The 3rd age is eternity... we only have our original body , but have received immortality thru Jesus .
A body + a spirit( a mind) = a person or soul

"bodies" are male or female vessels or containers which contain our spirit/mind...
We are all mortal souls until we join with Jesus Holy Spirit and then we can be decent... love, joy, peace, patience, kind, good, faithful. loyal and have self control... fruit of the Holy Spirit God gives us to replace our mind/spirit which can do nothing good without HIm.

I sincerely appreciate the effort, but I find it flawed because ages are being read into scripture that scripture does not actually state.

What do you do with 1 Corinthians 10:13?

1 Corinthians 10:13
For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play." Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

According to Paul, the ends of the ages had come in the first century. Not the beginning of the ages, nor the beginning of an age. Nor was it a single end of a single age. Multiple ages were coming to multiple ends. When it comes to eschatology many people interpret that verse to say the age is continuing up to and through today, the 21st century, but they do so in direct conflict with the fact the text explicitly states the ends had come. No more ages!

Clearly time and history have continued past the first century when Paul wrote his first letter to the Church in Corinth (c. 57AD). History proceeding is not the concern. The "ages" are what is stipulated, and they (plural) have come to their ends. As far as I am aware, there is no precedent in scripture for saying the end of something can and does last multiple millennia.

Not only had the ends of the ages fallen upon the believers in first century Corinth, but Paul also asserts the things in the Old Testament he's mentioned were written for them, the saints living in the first century as an example to them upon who the ends of the ages had fallen. In other words, those things weren't written for us living in the 21st century long after the ends of the ages had come, but for those living in the first century.

What do you make of 1 Corinthians 10:13?

There was an age (1st age) before this current age(2nd age)....................................
I'd also like to know what you do with Hebrews 9:26.

Hebrews 9:15-28 (excerpted for the sake of space)
For this reason, he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.......... Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; nor was it that he would offer himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise, he would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages he has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

The author of Hebrews agrees with Paul. He uses different words, but according to the author of Hebrews the consummation, or ends, of the ages had arrive during the first century (c. 63AD). The author of Hebrews also uses "ages" in its plural form, indicating multiple ages have come to an end. The only difference between what he wrote and what Paul wrote is that Paul says multiple ends have come and the author of Hebrews uses a single conjugation, consummation. Both agree the end(s) of the ages had come.

Yes, definitely , so everything such must be tested and proven in line with all Scripture before accepting any such beliefs... ... and further revelation reveals numerous errors, direct contradictions with Scripture, daily on the forum and worldwide. Many more errors, many fables, many leading to the way of destruction.
Perhaps you could be more specific so that @BeeFive and others might benefit and the discussion move forward with op-relevant content.

I just did a word search of "ages" in the Bible and discovered the word is used 10 times. One mention is found in Daniel and the other nine are all in the NT epistolary. There are 64 uses of the word "age" in its singular conjugation but the vast majority of them refer to an individual's age, not age in the sense of era, epoch, or a lengthy period of time or history. There are, however, nine mentions of "this age" and four mentions of "age to come" and all thirteen of these mentions occur in the NT. That makes for nearly two dozen passages speaking about various ages, or lengths of time.

I guess I am wondering why it is an op intended to teach others about the "three ages of time" did not use a single verse in which the word "age(s)" is actually used. Why is that? If we're going to discuss the Bible's concept of ages, specifically the "three ages," then should we start with what is explicitly stated in God's word, and do so before adding anything of our own? Why is the opening post absent of any verse in the Bible that uses the word "age"?

Since this op avoids all the scriptures using the word "age" perhaps you would tell us from whence this op comes? Who, or what was your source, and would you mind linking us to it so we can evaluate the source and its case for ourselves? Thx

This is a recurrent and almost always hopeless repeat dozens if not hundreds of times in the last few years on forum.
Thanks for that information. The author's profile is not visible, and a brief search of this board does not show multiple ops on the subject.

I'd still be interested in your views about the ages, especially as they pertain to 1 Cor. 10:13 and Heb. 9:26.

You may not know the answers to these next two question but if you know I'd appreciate knowing as well. First, the forum has individual boards specifically dedicated for various eschatological points of view and they are considered "Safe House" boards - boards where in-house discussions can be had without the rancor common in other forums' eschatology boards. I get that. What I do not understand is why certain threads are posted in the general Eschatology/End Times board but labeled "X Only." Why is that? Why isn't there a Historicist board separate from the Dispensationalist board, given their two Premillennial views are immensely different? And why do the Dispensationalists get so many sub-category safe houses? Lastly, is the general Eschatology board the appropriate place to post ops critical of Dispensationalism?

I've been away for a while and a lot has changed since I last participated here.

I'll address this part: This is why the NIV is such a corrupt version because it changes meanings! It also completely removes 1 John 5:7 which is the most solid passage about the Trinity, and while the unlearned NIV and other newer version translators claim older more reliable manuscripts, they were only older from not being used, and were unimportant, and incomplete. 1 John 5:7 is also quoted back in the 100s to 200s AD including a very clear exact quotation of it by Cyprian in 250 AD. The NIV also calls Lucifer the "Morning Star" which is exclusively Jesus title in Revelation! The Hebrew word for "Star" does not exist in Isaiah 14:12!

Job 38:21 KJV Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

"Do you know because then you were born or the number of your days great?"

It's a question, even a bit of mockery, as if to say, Oh Job, were you born and were you around when I did all these things?

Also Genesis 1:1 goes right into 1:2. No gaps. No prior world. God created and saw all was good. There couldn't be bad prior to the fall. We're not even sure exactly when Satan was cast out of heaven (Which I believe also included some of the planets like Mars- way too many weird things up there, and it's not from "aliens!")

Look at this in context and see it's obviously Yahweh the LORD asking Job questions to which he must answer, "NO, I wasn't there"

"16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

18 Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

21 Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?"

And, here's some of those Martian artifacts I mentioned, pics taken by Curiosity Rover, and there's a bunch more stuff like this. I posted a thread on it awhile back.

Looks like Lyre. No, not a "snake" as the conspiracy theorists allege! There's a carved out doorway or shaft.

The thing in the middle has pipes and is right angled - totally out of place, and not exactly 'natural" is it?

I see the OT age, the NT age, and the Kingdom age.

You can even break that down to the age before the law was given, then the age of the law, though technically the law was in effect prior to Moses. We can easily conclude that from Genesis

Yes, I know. However, I'm just dealing with your notion that the Bible speaks of 3 ages. The Bible does break it down into pre-Law/Law, NT, and Kingdom. In other words, the terminal point of the Law is sort of the fulcrum in the plan, tipping the balance of time for Man at the point where Christ died.

All that went before the cross was condemnation for Man. After the cross came justification for those who chose to have faith in Christ.

The Kingdom is the time when those who are justified assume control on earth, placing all others under moral restraints. That is a step beyond the present age when people are redeemed but do not yet rule.

You could break time down even more by saying there was a time for Man before the Fall, and there will be time after the Millennial Kingdom (assuming you're a Premillennialist).

Genesis
1 In the beginning God created* the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth WAS(BECAME) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

God did NOT create the earth to be void

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in VAIN, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

For this is what the LORD says-- he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did NOT create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited-- he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.

You can even break that down to the age before the law was given, then the age of the law, though technically the law was in effect prior to Moses. We can easily conclude that from Genesis
Not from Paul in Romans 5

"For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.... Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound."

The Law was adding more onto the list of disobedience, while offering a temporary solution to an individual's responsibility to appease that offence.

"For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died."

Noahs flood was not a universal flood but regional flood
Cain wrote a book called "The Paradigm". In this way Noah's flood represents the world wide flood that took place at the time Pangea was destroyed. WE find dinosaurs today in flood deposits. We see that "all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened." This is exactly what happened at the time of Pangea with the ring of fire and the atmosphere becoming a lot less humid. We have ice core samples so we know what the atmosphere was for the last 750 million years. Because an ice core has 750 million layers and each layer represents a year like we see in the rings on a tree when we cut it down and can count the rings to see how old the tree is.

Is that who Cain had sex with: Angels? Jesus made it clear that angels do not have sex.

Mark 12:25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

The law is a part of the universe. WE can not violate the law. Look at the diet laws. Eli's sons were considered evil and wicked because they did not cook the fat off of their meat. Today this is a leading cause of death. People who eat fast food three times or more a week are going to get sick. God gives us a warning and a chance to repent. I have been through physical therapy and the diet classes. People are very hard headed to change their ways. I have a friend right now that is very close to dialysis and he just does not want to quit eating the wrong foods. I have seen a lot of people die in the last few years because I am in my 70's. Usually they go pretty quick but it can be slow and gradual for them.

The earth was formless and void, and then God began creating with the spoken word in verse 3. So God took something formless and created it, and when creation was done, it had form.

The earth was formless and void
If we want to know what formless and void means we can learn a lot from science on this subject. People just do not realize that God gives us Science to help us understand that is in our Bible. Modern Science continues to show us how accurate the true the Bible is.
