I am a classically trained pianist and am trying to get my degree in music, for the second time. My professors don't like me because I won't conform to the horrible noise they try to call music. It's awful and completely turns me off to wanting to be a musician. How can anyone live through this...

Can anyone tell me about this? I'm in a conducting class and am conducting a marching band arrangement of Tschesnokoff's "Salvation is Created" (it's a really really horrible rendition, but I love the hymn). I did some research on it and discovered it was a Kievan Synodal chant, but I'm not sure...
