I believe this is how to become like Jesus.

God is sovereign, so we are all under His law and are obligated to refrain from sin regardless of whether or not we think His law applies to us.
Luke 11 46
Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

James chapter 2 verse 10
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Matthew chapter 11 verse 30
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Does it really make sense to you to interpret that verse as Jesus criticizing the Pharisees for teaching the people to obey what God commanded them to do?

James chapter 2 verse 10
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
In James 2:1-11, he was speaking to people who has sinned by committing favoritism and he was encouraging them to repent and obey God's law more consistently.

Matthew chapter 11 verse 30
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Jesus set a perfect example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law and in Matthew 11:28-30, he was inviting people to come to him for rest and to learn from him, not inviting people to reject his example. Moreover, by Jesus saying that we would find rest for our souls, he was referencing Jeremiah 6:16-19, where the Mosaic Law is described as the good way where we will find rest for our souls.

Isaiah chapter 28 verse 13
So then, the word of the LORD to them will become: Do this, do that, a rule for this, a rule for that; a little here, a little there— so that as they go they will fall backward; they will be injured and snared and captured.

Is there a particular reason why you intentionally took that verse out of context?

I'm not trying to argue but you take everything out of context, I've studied 42 years sometimes reading the bible all day, I've read or listened to it over 200 times, maybe over 300 times, I understand what I'm reading, I didn't go to school to be taught by man, all we can do is love and show mercy, and try to follow Christs example, not by being sinless, if people read all you wrote, they'll see you constantly take everything out of context.

Great reply! Your first quote is from a chapter that starts with the Messiah teaching His disciples (all of which are Torah observant but stand against the traditions of man) how to pray to our Father in Heaven (Whose will is detailed in His Torah) and culminates with Jesus excoriating those who have taken the commandments of the Father and made them 'of none effect'. Truly! This is a brilliant defense of the Father's will; His Torah!

Here we have a council of Torah observant folks. But the next verse you gave is incomplete so I'll help you by listing the the next few:
James chapter 2 verse 10-14

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For he (Elohim) that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law (Torah).
12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Obviously, the answer is a resounding NO! So thank you for another great defense of how Jesus did not just talk the talk, but also walked the walk! You want to walk with Him? He said, 'If you love me, keep my commandments.'

Now let's look at the last verse you offered: Matthew chapter 11 verse 30, but again, with a little context.

The entirety of these verse have to do with those cities that saw the miracles He performed and heard the truth of His words. But they chose to rely upon themselves and their traditions and rejected the call to repent and return to the Word (Torah) of Elohim.

20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

You see my brother, obeying Jesus (or Yeshua which in Aramaic means, 'The salvation of Yah') and His Commandments is a much lighter burden than what the sinner will have to shoulder in the Pit and then in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.

Context is everything. So I pray that He meet you in the place of your needs with blessings and all of those promised 'complete and perfect gifts'!

If Jesus preached the law, why would he have been killed?

John chapter 16 verse 2
They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.

If the disciples were preaching the law, why were they persecuted?

Acts chapter 15 verse 10

Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?

The bible isn't written like a book, I used to try very hard to keep the law, but after reading the bible over 100 times I understood, that wasn't the teaching, please study.

John chapter 8 verse 31,32
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I grew up being taught to have a negative view of the Mosaic Law, so I can certainly understand why someone would have that position even after reading the Bible many times, however, the Psalms express an extremely positive view of the Mosaic Law, such as with David repeatedly saying that he loved it and delighted in obeying it, so if we consider the Psalms to be Scripture and to therefore express a correct view of the Mosaic Law, then we will share it as Paul did (Romans 7:22), and we will interpret the authors of the the NT as though they delighted in obeying it because they considered the Psalms to be Scripture.

Christ set a sinless example of how to walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law, so if our goal is to follow his example, then we should obey the Mosaic Law.

If you think that I've taken anything out of context, then please demonstrate that I've done that. If you want we can discuss that content of Isaiah 28:13 because I don't see how anyone who reads that chapter in context can think that it is speaking against my position. The author of Isaiah was fully in favor of obedience to the Mosaic Law.

Politics brother. Perhaps you read all the times that Messiah blasted the false Hasmonean priesthood who supplanted the Zadokites for the sake of greed, the errant teachings of the Pharisees, the tyrannical rule of Herod the Edomite and the terrible twisting of the Torah by his lawyers.

I'm sure you recall that they all plotted multiple times to kill Him, remember? But we knew from the very beginning that He was, "the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world." It was bound to happen. He being blameless, became sin, so He could take on the mantle of the Righteous Judge. Do you not know this?

And you are right, it isn't written like a book. But it is filled with mysteries for those willing to search for them.

Edit: for clarity and spelling

Abraham was married to his half-sister, does the law only apply to some people.

Leviticus chapter 20 verse9
“‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.

Abraham was called God friend, and the man of faith.

Following your logic, the children of Adam and Eve would have never reproduced. A lot of things changed genetically over time. Then there were 'curses' (or prophecies) that affected different branches of humanity too. Take Jacob and Esau for an example. His instructions given in Leviticus simply reflect those considerations. Our Father doesn't make mistakes. We do.

Sorry I have the flu.

Isaiah chapter 45 verse 19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

I'm just going to make this statement, if you apply the law to yourself and study the bible, it will lead you to Christ, if you apply it to other people, you're just a hypocrite and will get nowhere.

Matthew chapter 15 verse 14
Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

So sorry you aren't feeling well. May the Lord grant you healing and many blessings!

As far as your statement, I say it goes both ways.

You said,"...if you apply the law to yourself and study the bible, it will lead you to Christ, if you apply it to other people, you're just a hypocrite and will get nowhere."; I would remind you of my signature, "The Word is given that we may judge ourselves - not others. Of others - we are to discern..."

We are warned that we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, aren't we? Do you think this is a prohibition on our assisting others do the same? No! - just the opposite. We are told to spread the Good News of the Son and the Truth of the Father!

Messiah repeatedly said, He only said and did, what the Father instructed Him. The Father described His Covenant as eternal. So it's not going anywhere.

Yahweh is not a man that He should lie', remember? Messiah Yeshua only taught Torah; no more and no less. You cannot show me anywhere that Messiah said the 'law' (instruction in the Hebrew) was completed, done away with, etc. Just the opposite. So if I look out my window and see that the Heavens and the Earth have not passed away, then neither has His Torah! Not the least little mark of it.

The writings of His Disciples consistently remind us that when we accept Messiah as our Lord, we receive the 'adoption of sons'; that is, we are adopted into His 'house' and into His 'covenant'. But the only covenant the Messiah ever taught was Torah. So the idea that the eternal covenant of His Father has been annulled by 'His only begotten Son' is ludicrous.

Messiah Yeshua taught, in the simplest of terms, that 1), He had been given all authority in all things concerning mankind, 2) that the only way to the Father was through Him, 3) He was now our High Priest in Heaven, and that 4), upon His ascension to His Throne in heaven, the Holy Spirit (Holy as in 'set apart to Yahweh') would come to assist us.

You said I should look to Matthew chapter 15 verse 14: "Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

This seems to be a consistent theme with you, as if the Torah was defective instead of the Torah teachers of Messiah's time on earth. So let me tell you what I think. King David declared that the sons of Zadok, the Zadokim or Zadokites, were to be the High Priests forever. With that in mind, consider this:

The 'blind guides' you refer to were,
1) the Hasmonean priests (not the Sons of Zadok) that were called the 'Sadducees' and did not believe in spirits, angels, the 'hereafter' or the resurrection; they believed in wealth, power and status,
2) the Pharisees and their scribes, were those that taught their own traditions; traditions that made the commandments of Elohim (according to Messiah) 'of none effect' (remember?) and
3) the interpretations of the Torah by the lawyers of King Herod that did what politicians always do - lie for their own benefit.

This is why they were called 'blind guides' and this is why our Messiah told His Disciples not to follow them or their teachings.

Messiah Yeshua NEVER told them not to follow Torah. Ever! You don't know this?

As to the Flu, get some Sambucol or Sambucus (Black Elderberry extract). You can get it at some grocery stores, most pharmacies and most health food stores. It defeats most virus infections by melting the spikes that allow them to penetrate the hosts cell walls. It works on Covid or it seems to. I'm not a doctor. My experience is just my own.

I had Epstein/Barr virus for months and it cured it in 2 days. As far as I can tell, it works on every virus to which I have been exposed. Take one a day as a preventative and you can avoid even catching them in the first place if your immune system is relatively healthy.

Be blessed. Be well.
Shalom!

Sinners are not going to inherit the kingdom of God, i am talking about practicing the big sins the bible talks about, not about the mistakes we do every day.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous ones will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,

Is this the only reason you changed versions?

New Age Bible Versions: An Exhaustive Documentation of the Message, Men & Manuscripts Moving Mankind to the Antichrist's One World Religion Paperback – June 1, 1993"

I read about half of this book and it was very informative about how the versions of the Bible have been corrupted over the last century. It was an incredible eye-opener and led me to return to the 1599 Geneva version, which I love. The Geneva Bible was complied from source documents and predates the KJV. Many Blessings

Matthew chapter 23 verse 10
It used to say teacher now it says this.

Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

The underlying Greek word is καθηγηταί (kathegetai) a declined form of καθηγητής (kathegetes), which means "guide", "master", "leader", teacher", "instructor" etc. It speaks of one who rules over, such as a teacher over a student, or more generally one with authority over another.

Whether it is translated as "teacher" or "instructor" here is immaterial--both convey some meaning of the word being translated. Other translations translate as "leader" or "master". Again, these terms convey the meaning of the the word.

What is more important is what Jesus is actually trying to communicate here. Jesus didn't say "teachers" or "instructors" or "masters"--those are English words. Now it's possible the original word Jesus used was Aramaic, translated by the Evangelist into Greek as καθηγηταί, but since we don't have that original Aramaic and since that is just conjecture anyway, we have to treat the actual word which St. Matthew used when he penned the text. So Jesus is telling His disciples to call no one καθηγηταί. Why? What is Jesus getting at? Is Jesus literally forbidding the use of the word καθηγητής in relation to anyone other than Himself? Well, no. He also says "call no one father", but Jesus isn't saying we can't call our biological fathers "dad" or "father" or "papa" or whatever.

This happens in a particular context, the context of those Pharisees who really like human praise, to be treated with high honor, who like titles and praise and attention. Jesus doesn't want His disciples--and by extension, all of us now--to be like those Pharisees. They are prideful and immodest, they are interested in the glory of human praise and entitlement. Instead, Jesus wants us to be humble, modest, not concerning ourselves with praise. It's the same reason He tells us to not let one hand of ours know what the other is doing. It's the same reason He says to give in secret, and to pray in a closet. Not because we have to literally not let anyone know we gave something, or because we literally have to lock ourselves in a room in order to pray. That's not the point. The point is recognizing our intentions, having the right intentions and not having the wrong intentions. That our giving should come from a generous disposition, not to flaunt ourselves before others; we should pray genuine prayer, not as a way to say "look at me, look at me, I'm so holy".

Therefore, don't seek after these things, don't put another person on a pedestal--"Teacher" "Master" "Rabbi" "Father" etc, and don't seek to be called these things either. It is okay to teach, it is okay to be a dad, and it's okay to call teachers a teacher, and dads dad. What is not okay is setting ourselves up, or setting others up, as some kind of irrefutable master or leader or whatever in order to gain glory for ourselves.

We need only look to elsewhere in Scripture, for example St. Paul instructs us--teaches us, as a teacher and as a spiritual father even--to boast in nothing except for Christ and God's grace. "Where is our boasting? It is excluded" he says to the Corinthians, and to the Ephesians he reminds us that our salvation comes from God alone, by His grace, what we receive is a gift, not something we do, or earn, therefore we have nothing to boast about. We are to always be humble, to be servants; servants of Christ of course, but also servants to one another, and toward our neighbors whom we are called to love.

We are not masters or lords, we are servants. We are to have the mind of Christ, the same disposition of our Lord Jesus, who even though He is God, did not regard His own Deity as something to exploit, but humbled Himself, He emptied Himself, He became a slave for our sakes, human with all our weaknesses (but without sin); in order to bear the dreadful and terrible shame of the cross in order that we should be reconciled to God by His blood. He is the Lord, exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father, and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess His Lordship; nevertheless He did not exploit any of that, He came in weakness though He is in every way glorious. How much less, than, are we compared to Him who is God and Lord? Yet by His own humility He invites us to share in His humility, in His weakness. For the glory of God is found in such weakness; we have died and been buried with Christ, and so we have been raised with Christ; and the day shall come when even these weak and sin-soaked bodily members shall be raised up and transformed with glory, honor, and immortality.

Within the confines of the OP: I only know of one passage of Scripture where we are to follow the example of Jesus.

I Peter 2:20: But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

Following the example of Jesus in its highest order is to suffer for others. How many preachers use this passage of Scripture in their sermons? If they did this in America today....people would be leaving the church in droves.

We are all called to follow the teachings of Jesus...the call to suffer on behalf of others shows us the radical nature of Christianity.

1 John chapter 1 verse 8
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

James chapter 2 verse 10
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Romans chapter 3 verse 20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Galatians chapter 2 verse 21
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Galatians chapter 5 verse 4
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Galatians chapter 4
21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

24 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:

“Be glad, barren woman,
you who never bore a child;
shout for joy and cry aloud,
you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband.”[e]
28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”[f] 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

Galatians 3 verse 17
What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

(The law introduced 2000 years later also doesn't do away with the promise. )
cherry picking verses is not appropriate, here is an example;

Jas 2:9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Jas 2:10 Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Jas 2:11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.

Jas 2:12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom.

Jas 2:13 For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

even in partial context James 2:10 means something different than the verse by itself. I have seen this verse being misused over and over.

Peace

The only way to gain a character trait is through faith, so while we become righteous through faith apart from being required to have first obeyed the Mosaic Law, becoming some who has a character trait through faith means becoming someone who practices that character trait through faith, so it is contradictory to become righteous apart from becoming someone who practices righteousness in obedience to the Mosaic Law. This is why the faith by which we are declared righteous does not abolish our need to obey the Mosaic Law, but rather our faith upholds it (Romans 3:28-31). In other words when someone practices righteousness in obedience to the Mosaic Law, such as by helping the poor, then the significance of their action is not that it is part of something that they need to do first in order to earn their righteousness as the result, but rather the significance is that they are expressing their faith, and it is by that faith alone that they are are declared righteous.

In 1 Timothy 1:8, the Mosaic Law is good if it is used properly, so what was only said against its improper uses should not be mistaken as speaking against its proper uses.
Finally Someone who understands scripture!

Blessings Brother!
