Hi i'm looking forward to learning from this community and contributing in constructive ways that help parents raise their kids. I'm passionate about kids coming to know Jesus as the Lord and I perform shows that teach the bible to kids through crazy characters, live drawings and rap music.

Hey Anton's Antics, welcome to the forums! It sounds like you have a great ministry. My brother dabbles in Christian rap - what artists are you in to?
Hey there, thanks for the welcome. It's going to sound old fashioned but I do find a resonance with someone like Bowie. I love how he was prepared to cross genres and not let his music get boxed in too much. As for rap, I'd say artists like Jay Z and snoop dog...now that's musically, doesn't mean I love all the stuff they sing about. Also bands like U2 are a pretty inspirational.
Does your brother perform anywhere? Is there a place for christian rap where you are?

Not old fashioned at all - Bowie was wonderful. We're in the UK (about a mile away from where Bowie grew up, incidentally) so the rap has a bit of a different sound than in the States. There's a sub-genre called grime that's particularly popular at the moment. It's kind of a hybrid of rap, drum 'n' bass, hip hop and afrobeats. You might like it if you're into cross-genre music :) Lots of quite clever lyrics and wordplay amongst both the secular and Christian stuff. I'd recommend Guvna B, Victizzle, and Faith Child as Christian artists, or Tinie Tempah, Wretch32 and Skepta as secular ones. The London accent might take some getting used to though ;) What's the rap scene like in Australia?
And (shameless plug!) this is my brother - this song's a couple years old but it's still one of my favourites, lyrically.

Welcome to CF!

I'm sure you can find like-minded folks here. You might start out looking into Children and Youth Ministries forum or even the Parenting forum. If your ministry focuses within a particular denomination or group of fellowships, those areas might be good places to visit as well. Please let us know if we can help you find anything!

And again, welcome to CF! I pray you are blessed by being here. :)

Nice work, thanks for sharing. Not too into the rap scene here, as I can't stand hearing aussie accents and rap...just doesn't work for me. My rap is a character created for the kids show, so my focus is creating a believable character both in action, appearance and sound. So I adopt an accent from the States. Didn't mind your brother's londoner sound, thought it was cool.

thanks for the tip, I've made a concerted effort to refocus my ministry on helping parents as a first priority, so that's where I'll start. but its never exclusively one or the other. Of course I do shows, so I need to keep in touch with ministries to kids as well that aren't in the family.
