Hi everyone

I am from Australia and new to all religious teachings. I have always been spiritual, but never raised with any religion. I was against religion from all what I did know about it, due to so many hypocrites among it and bad things done within the churches. My opinions were mainly based on other people's opinions and experiences drip fed to me through my life also.

My biggest memory from childhood was when I was about 7 home sick from school and someone came to the door selling bibles. My mum bought me a children's version. It felt so special straight away. I remember the first pages talking about how loving God was, and the description and pictures of what heaven was like which made me so happy and excited. Flick a few pages and things got ugly fast. God was saying and doing things that didn't make sense to me. Requiring sacrifice and declaring to be a jealous and envious God etc Total opposite to what I had felt in my heart which confused and angered me and I burst in to tears.
Being spiritual I have always had that connection but in a different way. When I finally starting reading the bible this year after getting visions of Jesus flash in my mind when I realised everything they try to make bad is good and vice versa in this world always steering us off the truth, I was left with the question "what did Jesus say". I started reading about Jesus and realised I resonated so much with him and his teachings which had always matched a lot of my beliefs. Thus made me keep reading, digging and seeking for answers, which has led me here in a whirlwind of change mixed with a billion questions and avenues to explore the last 9 months.

I realised so many of the problems I had with "Christianity" so did Jesus and God. I was blown away with what I read and how out of context people pinned their beliefs on from certain scripture. Either I am completely perceiving the message wrong, or many others are from being raised and indoctrinated in different times.
Longing to find other open minded people to discuss these findings with is hard. I am just trying to connect with like minded people to see if others have received the same message and awareness from scripture and hear others theories also to grow and learn together whilst seeking truth as a collective.
How do you explain what God and the bible mean to you?
What defines you a christian or follower of the teachings?

I am planning to start a blog as a record of my journey for later personal reflection. I also want to share the messages I feel that our revealed to me through scripture and heart (as scripture teaches to do) Sharing my perceived message should your ears hear too. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. May you join together sharing the word and message in testing resonates, to collectively decide if it aligns with Gods essence and teachings

Matthew 13:52
Then Jesus said to the followers, “So every teacher of the law who has learned about God’s kingdom has some new things to teach. He is like the owner of a house. He has new things and old things saved in that house. And he brings out the new with the old.”

Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
Looking forward to checking out the forum and getting to learn and grow with you all. I hope others will read my different views with open ears and heart.

Thanks for the warm welcome Lulav :)
It's funny and wise in sending new followers straight to Jesus words to start with. I did this by instinct for I was led their by visions of Jesus randomly flashing through my head, and the sudden realization I really had no idea what the true message of Jesus was. Regardless of the obvious infiltration what did he stand for as a person. How did he personally represent Gods character?
When I agreed and understood all his teachings and dislikes, resonating deeply with his message and mentality towards things etc Jesus suddenly became the greatest messenger and influence on man kind in history. A true inspirational hero every person alive could use as a positive role model and inspiration. When I bought my first bible I got Jesus words in red, as first priority :)
I can completely appreciate we are all different and at different levels of awareness. But I also feel Jesus taught a powerful message himself for us all to remember that often gets overlooked in peoples defence's. For Jesus sacrificed himself well before the crucifixion in reality for the moment he stood up against the corrupt leaders in righteous justice for all people his death warrant was written, just as every other leader of peace in history.
Jesus himself broke their "laws" and teachings, turning his back on Gods "infallible word, temples and ways" knowing Gods true heart and teachings, so was never fooled by their false teachings and ways, nor be swayed in his belief.

Many many great life lessons in the bible are heard and glorified which is great, but I feel in my heart some are unseen, or ignored if it causes inconveniences or requires too much effort, hence the whole poor slaughtering of countless animals in trade off for ever taking responsibility easing guilt and fear of hell, yet weaking ones conscious. A quick fix diet pill/get out of jail cheats way out in which one will never learn and grow to their true potential and in fact only fall further away.
For instance, I have personally seen numerous warnings and messages against killing of animals in scripture. It's repeated through out many times and yet goes unnoticed or acknowledged based on one or two vague verses where the law on eating meat is lifted and man given the choice to choose on their own once again as a test of heart, mind and spirit just like the failed test of the quails in the wilderness. For man no longer listens to Gods word/heart, led blindly by a false god who justify and require the instruction to eat meat knowing the outcome of those actions. I feel it is hugely misunderstood so taught out of context. This is a topic I want to address in great depth in sharing what's been revealed to me as instructed and will take awhile collating the many scriptures and clues to help explain my feelings on this sensitive topic without coming across as an attack as that is not my goal at all.
But if you wanted to just ponder a couple for now here are two

Acts 15:20
Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

1 Corinthians 8-10
The above verse I feel cautions against meat again in many subtle and obvious ways with examples of the past and present as examples to help explain and compare how no man kept any law in those days, ignorantly following the devils "false-god" disconnecting from God and love. That deep understanding of God being all living creatures through His Holy Spirit, aka 'lamb' = God. "For if you truly love me you will shepherd, feed and tend to my sheep as promised and taught, for bread from now is your meat, for bread is from earth designed to produce vegetation for all beings to eat, and harnesses the Holy Spirit, with Gaia energetically recharging your spark everyday with new life

I will leave it there for now, as my perception of Pauls teachings give many clues, but for a different reason. Do any who read my words resonate?

 I find a big difference between religion and Christianity... and perhaps many are still confused? Religion requires you "do" something (for whatever reasons) but Christianity only says "believe" "accept Jesus' love/payment".

If you have trouble finding the right forum for your thoughts, ask. :)

Hi; good to see you; God bless His Word to you. It's a good idea to find out directly from God's Word, the Bible, what Christianity is actually all about. A good place to read is John's Gospel, chapters 1 thru 3, chapter 14, verses 1 thru 27; John's First Epistle (short, only 5 chapters but very searching) and Psalm 46.

Welcome. Many similarities with my own journey. One being how amazed I was when first meeting "the real Jesus" through my own Bible reading. Now, what God means to me is a Perfect "unconditional loving" Father who knew me before I was born, and maneuvered all circumstances in my life by his mercy and Grace so I would come to know Him, and want to be a member of His Family. The Bible to me is Jehovah on paper/ink. What defines me as a follower or disciple, is first repentance, surrender of my will, knowing Jesus is Gods only Son.
Accepting Yeshua as my Messiah. Listening to the Holy Spirit reveal the Saviors love and guidance through the hours of life.
