I am absolutely terrified to write this thread because I don't know how people will respond, whether it is going to be hate or not.

But my heart is depressed. I just watched a documentary on how homosexuals are being treated in Russia. Yes, I acknowledge that God hates homosexuality. I know that it is an immoral sin. But I can't help but love those people, simply because I know what they are going through in the sense of sexual desire. I don't know, however, what they are going through in getting tortured. Russia is predominately Christian, and they believe they are doing God a favor by kidnapping gays and torturing them. I was going to have nothing to do with Christians after I saw that. My heart got a little harden towards believers after seeing this. It showed clips of haters making them drink urine and just beating them while they lay there and scream. They were beating them with baseball bats.

I am depressed and angry. I cried for an hour. Do Christians condone this type of behavior? Yes, they are in sin. But is the answer to torment them and beat them?

Please pray that God softens my heart.

Hi Cedric.

First, I agree with you about loving people regardless of their own personal struggles with sin.

Second, I did a study on abominations and found that aside from homosexuality, there were more than 600 abominations listed in the Bible; including lying, gossiping, and giving someone a dirty look.

Last, I ask you to recognize that there are people in this world who claim to be Christians but have never truly met the Savior. They base their belief on Law and not mercy, grace, and unconditional love. If Christ, Who died for us while we were yet in sin, were truly abiding in someone, would that person be filled with hate to the point of gnashing their own teeth against another person? Would someone do these terrible things to another human being if he truly knew the love and forgiveness Jesus had given him? I don't believe anyone who does those horrible things really knows Christ on a personal level. They have a form of godliness but deny the power (grace, forgiveness, sacrifice) thereof.

Please don't be terrified. Those who beat and torture others are not doing God any favors. Stick to the Christian Faith as described by the Apostle Paul between Romans and Philemon. No authentically born-again Believer in Jesus as Savior will endorse suppression such as this. Stay strong in Him.

I shouldn't have blamed all Christians for this. Thank you for your compassion.

That breaks my heart to even think that our 'brothers' and 'sisters' are doing that to others.. I think the better question would be..does God Himself condone that behaviour? Absolutely not. He wants us to love others [sinners and believers] and the way those particular group of Russian Christians are going about persecuting other people is disgusting. There is no love shown there. How can we or they reach the lost if our hearts are hardened against unbelievers/everyone in general. Your heart seems to be softened in terms of having sympathy for those who are homosexual. But please, brother, don't harden your heart against the rest of us Christians, who do not condone that type of behaviour nor God Himself, for the acts of those select 'Christians'. I think we should pray for /their/ hearts to be softened by God so that, instead of persecuting them and committing those vile acts against another human being, they may see the error of their ways, confess their sins, repent, and reach out to them in love.

your post is so very sad. my heart cries for the pain and suffering in this world. no Christian would treat anybody that way, not even those who are trying to kill us. love and compassion is what Jesus teaches. even the lady caught in adultery was told she was not condemned, but to sin no more. Jesus is love. those who do hateful things do not have His love in their hearts. we must forgive them and pray for them to know the Lord. God bless you, cedric.

praying for all those persecuted in this world and praying for the persecutors as well. love in Christ :prayer:

Your emotions are completely logic, because it is one of Gods greatest commands to love our neighbors and to respect them.
Treat others the way we want to be treated. Your heart is already soft. Gods spirit is with you.
Prayers

Thank you and God bless

Of course those are not Christian behaviors! Nothing in the N.T.shows Messiah, or His followers, doing anything whatsoever like that! Bullies abound in the world. So do phony Christians. Praying for peace and healing for you.!

Thank you, LoricaLady. I do realize that my harden heart was not of God.
