I am a buckeye...

I have only been to
Arizona just once during my military tour of duty from 67/71. My last (30) days of my tour I was sent to Marine Air Base in
Yuma to train a group of Marines heading for Vietnam. I was the "alone" passenger in an old C-130 cargo plane that left my station at Cherry Point, North Carolina. Just a few miles from landing, we hit a huge rainstorm with much lightening which struck our plane different times. The strapped down cargo was shifting back and forth every direction. Being a tough Marine, I was only slightly scared.

Hmm... can't use any more smilies and I still had a few to go. Anyway, it was a rough trip. But what haunts me today is that... I have no memory of landing at the Marine Air Wing Base at Yuma. Even much, much worse is that... I actually have NO memory of my (30) day stay there. I don't know what I did or didn't do even to this day. I call that my "Trilight Zone" experience. A little scarry don't ya think?
