Happy Lord's Day ArmyMatt. I feel the same way about the Baptist response to Eastern Orthodoxy. Time slipped away from me the last day or two, spent it with family, etc. If anyone wants to have a listen the audio is free.

Yours in the Lord,

How does 'Tradition' not answer? Of course it does! Sacred Scripture is an inseparable part of Holy Tradition and cannot be removed or properly understood outside of it. The Apostle in Holy Writ says: "Hold Fast to the Traditions you have received from us whether by Word or Epistle". Prior to Protestantism's advent, Christianity has never held to Bible-onlyism; it's always understood Scripture within Holy Tradition as an organic, inseparable, immutable, and unalterable whole ( the substance of which or essence of which no-one, whomsoever he be, can add, subtract, fabricate, or innovate from or into).

Whose "tradition?" Where is it? Define it. Point to it. If you point to the Eastern Church why not the Church of the East or the Roman Church? Tradition does not answer, it can't...at least not as a final authority for "tradition" is fickle.

Already have. Just search the forum. When I do make an argument, even when invited to....I get reported by members of the Eastern Orthodox denomination who cannot handle it. I have been given warnings for discussing EO dogma.

well, I remember your postings, and not one time do I remember you showing that Tradition is fickle. I remember people redifining what we say Tradition is to suit their own arguments, but not much more than that.

The Controversy Over Icons - is a display of how tradition changes according to the political landscape. (fickle - changing frequently, especially as regards one's loyalties, interests, or affection.)

that doesn't show how the Tradition changed. only that folks who tried to change it failed.

they failed. iconography goes back to the Tabernacle

Haha, failed so bad I was reported a number of times for contradicting your denominations view on the matter.

anachronism
[ əˈnakrəˌnizəm ]
NOUN
noun: anachronism · plural noun: anachronisms

a thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned

Wiki:
An anachronism (from the Greek ἀνά ana, "against" and χρόνος khronos, "time") is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of person(s), events, objects, or customs from different periods of time. The most common type of anachronism is an object misplaced in time, but it may be a verbal expression, a technology, a philosophical idea, a musical style, a material/textile, a plant or animal, a custom or anything else associated with a particular period in time so that it is incorrect to place it outside its proper temporal domain.
An anachronism may be either intentional or unintentional. Intentional anachronisms may be introduced into a literary or artistic work to help a contemporary audience engage more readily with a historical period, or for purposes of rhetoric, comedy or shock. Unintentional anachronisms may occur when a writer, artist or performer is insufficiently aware of differences in technology, customs, attitudes, or fashions between different historical eras.

I have not suggested that you not debate, only that we steer the conversation back to the pod cast rather than you ranting endlessly about EO's reporting you for teaching/debating in the main congregational forum.

No point in conversation in the pretend "debate" forum, I've learned my lesson. I was reported for posting in St. Justin's not in the main forum but nice try. As you can see from the date on this thread I stated this topic a while ago...before my posts were repeatedly reported by EO forum members. So, as far as I’m concerned this was a Lazarus thread, it was dead and resurrected.

You are welcome to join us in the Semper forum where we do not report you for discussions and honest debate about difficult subjects. I've made the offer before...

Yours in the Lord,

jm

I get what you are saying, but I fail to see what this has to do with iconography....and you have not trumped our position at all. I remember your posts and not one contradicts that icons were always used in Churches
