it is not the "endorsing any religion"
it is recognizing the fact that our culture owes a debt to Christianity
that it was fundamental in our foundation as a culture and a nation
you can not really say the same about Satanism, or even Islam

and I would not be freaking out if Islamic symbols were up in an area that had a significant Muslim population

in New York City, during December, it is not uncommon to see Christmas trees and Menorahs up in public places
New York has a significant Jewish population, so I am not shocked or scandalized by this
The fact that people are only offended by our God is a kind of proof that our God is different from the "gods."

"And blessed is he who takes no offense at me." - Jesus (Luke 7:23)

So you are saying that the ones who made this statue do worship the father of lies.
No. I'm saying that it's my guess that they are from the religious type of Satanism. ..but I don't know for sure, could just be a prank.

So now you are saying that it could be a religion or a prank? Which is it?

Or maybe.... Non-Christians (people of different religions) are just tired of many Christians trying to get special religious privileges in this country and from the government itself, while attempting to suppress and oppose the religious freedom, freedom of speech and freedom of expression of people who are of a different faith and religion.

Because our God is the only one that stands out. Even those who deny our God still acknowledge Him by being so passionate about rejecting Him. The so-called "gods" are apparently not worth the same effort.

Of course it is. It's showing that this is the correct one according to the government and all others are inferior. You may believe that, but I don't and it's my government too.
not really saying it is right or wrong on a metaphysical level
it is saying that this religion has had a deep impact in the development of US laws and cultural norms
and that is an accurate statement

I wouldn't deny that, but the Constitution easily could have made an official religion and the framers decided not to do that.

I don't know, maybe if you include as our God, the God of the Muslims and Jews. Most outspoken atheists I know speak out against all three of the Abrahamic faiths.
I don't hear many speaking out against Thor or Zeus, but that's likely a product of the times...I'm sure Norse atheists back in the day spoke out against Odin worship.
I wish I could be passionate about accepting or rejecting God, but like many I'm waiting around for some sort of evidence or spark, and the fact that some are certain that God doesn't exist is not in fact any sort of proffered to me that He does.

we can show that these monuments are meant to be representative of the population rather then speaking of eternal truths

like I said, in New York City, you will often see Menorahs and Nativity Scenes right next to each other on public land

but Christianity and Talmudic Judaism are mutually exclusive
so the State can not be saying that BOTH of these are true
it is merely representing the different religions that contribute to that community

if Islam contributes to a community, well they would put up muslim stuff

this is not rocket science

there is a difference between having an official religion and recognizing historical and cultural realities

putting the 10 Commandments on the statehouse lawn does not support a specific Church
unless they bought the monument from a specific Church, but those things are normally custom made

The vast majority of atheists and agnostics are not at all passionate about our God. I know lots of atheists and agnostics and none of them spend any significant time or effort mocking religion or trying to convince me that I'm wrong. Mostly, we treat each other respectfully and live in harmony, respecting eachother's beliefs and focussing on our common ground to solve problems and have a good time.

I don't think that militant atheists would object to a truly historic statue that read "there was a primitive culture here that created a government loosely based on their interpretation of these rules when it was convinient for them and ignored them when it wasn't". It is the apparent suggestion that the government has a preference for a specific religion that they generally object to.

sorry that you hate America so much that you call our Founding Fathers the product of a "Primitive Culture" ??

jeez if you talked about African tribes like that you would be called a racist or a cultural imperialist
but to call your own culture that?
some kind of self-hating American

Christianity has been the de facto religion of the US since its founding....

I never realized that genocide, slavery, theft, racism, and white supremacy were all Christian values. But I have to admit that genocide and slavery are definitely discussed in the bible. You know, the bible does talk about the devil coming to kill, steal, and destroy, and that pretty much sums up what the early European invaders did when they first came this land, to which afterward they killed, stole, and destroyed (pillaged, ravaged) all in the name of God, while claiming it was their right through Manifest Destiny.

"Hate America?" Grow up and stop talking such emotional nonsense, you're better than that. Our founding Fathers were primitive, thankfully we've largely moved on from slavery, stealing land and destroying tribes of natives, and ideas of Maniest Destiny.

My culture has little to do with that of our founding fathers. I make no objection to calling African tribal culture primitive.

They're atheists. They are not theistic Satanists, which do believe in and pay worship to Satan. Or what they conceive of as Satan.
Temple of Satan are atheists who are committed to satire against Christians. Which is why they promoted the antithesis of the Christian God into the Bible Belt states at first. And intended to have its final resting place in those states to be that which resides right beside the ten commandments.

Notice that Christians are ganged up on and told "Keep your religion to yourself!" even when we are expressing our religion within a Christian website. It supports the point I made in the OP about the current cultural climate.
