No way, they'll just divide all the calculations by some square root and then say it's a 21 day delay in the shmeitah year of prophetic time just so they can make another headline that causes me to take a stroke all over again.

Just maybe... it has something to do with the trillions of dollars of debt accumulated and the 100's of trillions of dollars of unfunded future obligations.

The Chinese and others have us over a barrel, through their willingness to loan us more money to be squandered.

Easy prediction to make. Nothing has to happen, you just have to accept it at face value. But having seen lots of "beginnings of the end" over a lot of years, I think I'll give this one that sort of salutary neglect that all its predecessors have deserved.

The decision to skip the payment is “consistent with both the commonwealth’s stated intent to restructure its debt and its current liquidity pressures,” Fitch Ratings said in a statement Monday.

Nah, not technically, anyway. They're in a weird place because of their status as a "commonwealth". Whre Uncle Sugar would come storming in and rescue them if they were a state, or just declare bankruptcy like Detroit did a few years ago, but they can't legally do either one. So essentially their creditors take it in the shorts, and the commonwealth gov't goes into enforced austerity because they can't raise any more money. They can't really get any relief by raising taxes, either, as that will just exacerbate the problem with attracting more business, and make more people head for greener pastures on the mainland.

So yeah, it's probably a Sign of the End. But then again, so is everything else. <Laugh>
