And what timeframe would that be? And how did you see it from the title alone?
Passion |ˈpaʃ(ə)n|
noun
1 strong and barely controllable emotion : a man of impetuous passion.
2 ( the Passion) the suffering and death of Jesus : meditations on the Passion of Christ.

The previous film was a lot better. The new film gave far too much emphasis on the sacrifice of Christ rather than His preachings.

As it rightly should have.
Jesus said "I desire mercy over sacrifice". So the new film gave the opposite meaning.

"But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." [Galatians 6:14]

"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." [1 Corinthians 2:2]

"We preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles." [1 Corinthians 1:23]
But I wouldn't be surprised. Jews are quite prominent in Hollywood and quite influential to Mel Gibson. The original film was too anti-Jewish so, probably, that was more than enough for them.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Mel Gibson, the one who has constantly made anti-semitic remarks, and The Passion of the Christ, which has usually placed second behind Triumph of the Will for the most anti-semitic film in recent times.
It will infuriate the Jews to have a remake of the original film, unlike that made by Mel Gibson.

"One of the most troublesome texts, relative to anti-Semitic potential, that any of us had seen in twenty-five years. It must be emphasized that the main storyline presented Jesus as having been relentlessly pursued by an evil cabal of Jews, headed by the high priest Caiaphas, who finally blackmailed a weak-kneed Pilate into putting Jesus to death. This is precisely the storyline that fueled centuries of anti-Semitism within Christian societies. This is also a storyline rejected by the Roman Catholic Church at Vatican II in its document Nostra aetate, and by nearly all mainline Protestant churches in parallel documents. ... Unless this basic storyline has been altered by Mr. Gibson, a fringe Catholic who is building his own church in the Los Angeles area and who apparently accepts neither the teachings of Vatican II nor modern biblical scholarship, The Passion of the Christ retains a real potential for undermining the repudiation of classical Christian anti-Semitism by the churches in the last forty years."
Joint Committee of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Inter-religious Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Department of Inter-religious Affairs of the Anti-Defamation League
"For filmmakers to do justice to the biblical accounts of the passion, they must complement their artistic vision with sound scholarship, which includes knowledge of how the passion accounts have been used historically to disparage and attack Jews and Judaism. Absent such scholarly and theological understanding, productions such as The Passion could likely falsify history and fuel the animus of those who hate Jews."
Anti-Defamation League
"Gibson has violated just about every precept of the [United States Conference of Catholic Bishops] conference's own 1988 'Criteria' for the portrayal of Jews in dramatizations of the Passion (no bloodthirsty Jews, no rabble, no use of Scripture that reinforces negative stereotypes of Jews, etc.) [...] The priests have big noses and gnarly faces, lumpish bodies, yellow teeth; Herod Antipas and his court are a bizarre collection of oily-haired, epicene perverts. The 'good Jews' look like Italian movie stars (Italian sex symbol Monica Bellucci is Mary Magdalene); Mary, who would have been around 50 and appeared 70, could pass for a ripe 35."
Katha Pollitt, The Nation
"In its representation of its Jewish characters, The Passion of the Christ is without any doubt an anti-Semitic movie, and anybody who says otherwise knows nothing, or chooses to know nothing, about the visual history of anti-Semitism, in art and in film. What is so shocking about Gibson's Jews is how unreconstructed they are in their stereotypical appearances and actions. These are not merely anti-Semitic images; these are classically anti-Semitic images."
Leon Wieseltier, The New Republic

I thought Jesus of Nazareth film was worse because of constant rebukes of the Jews in the film. It reminded me of Hitler anti-Jewish speeches in Nazi rallies. Ironically, the Jesus actor they chose did looked like Hitler! The Passion of the Christ is much more docile in nature.

no use of Scripture that reinforces negative stereotypes of Jews, etc.

Read John Chapters 8 and 10, whole chapters.

I wonder why no one lobbied yet to have it removed from the Bible.

The movie Titanic was the worst thing I have ever seen EVER. How on earth does one go from a story regarding possibly the most historic ship ever constructed, and turn it into a chick movie staring Leo Don'tgiveacrapio - who incidentally, couldn't act even if he played himself.

The Beach was maybe a half decent film. But other than that, I'm not convinced.

Anyway, to answer the OP, no. I have a heart of stone. No, I'm lying. I cried like a baby when I first watched The Lion King. Mufasa! No!!! :''(

Wow, I was really angry about this >_<

Sad.. I like Titanic.. a guilty pleasure of mine I guess.. although I can understand not liking the love story aspect.. it's still James Cameron.. and he is a pretty good director. I enjoy many scenes from the film from an artistic view.

Cannot remember the last time I cried during a movie.. especially as an adult.. Philadelphia.. might have made me tear up somewhat.. honestly cannot remember.

The end of The Imitation Game almosy got me to shed a tear.

Even though a lot of that movie was probably false, lol.

And I guess that.. and Dallas Buyers Club.. starting to see a pattern.. lol..

Really though.. as someone born finding pain and whatnot romantic.. I do get teary eyed about stories of individuals who are abhorred by society for their attractions.. doesn't have to be about the theme of such movies listed above.. but the reality is Hollywood rarely makes much else..

Dust sometimes gets in my eyes during the emotional parts of a movie, like when Kevin Costner's character plays catch with his dad in Field of Dreams, but in a dark theater nobody notices.

I have never been prone to crying during a movie but after watching 12 Years a Slave I came really close. Do movies ever make you cry and if so is there one that always makes you tear up?
Yes!!!! Good movies do. Especially if they have good music to them. Being that I pretty much rent all my movies from the library and I used to only watch twice a year movies. But during the pandemic all that changed. Last year changed a lot of my habits, and I went on movie benches of checking out 12 at a time. I do my research before I put in a request for them. It's only this past year that I decided to check out love romance movies, I've always been against them. There were some ones to give me some tears that I needed.

My teen years I pretty much resisted crying and some of my early 20s.

Rarely but it has happened with anime. Anyone that's seen the end of the Chimera Ant arc from Hunter X Hunter will know what I mean.

Yes they do make me cry. I think I cry most watching romantic movies or animation movies. It has been quite embarrassing if I have been movies with my daughter and she didn't cry and I was weeping there and the movie was just animation^_^ I don't I just see them always very emotional!
