My dear 6 year old autistic son Joshua has been becoming more unruly over the past couple of months to the point that his teacher called an emergency IEP meeting. We got a great recommendation for ABA services that only accepts Medicaid. Since my son already had a Medicaid card, we gave them the number when we applied for services. We then found out that his Medicaid expired back in October. We were not even notified about the need for renewal, but that neither here nor there at this point. We got a denial letter from our state informing us that our income was too high. I decided to appeal. I am about to mail the letter after I finish this post. In the appeal, I explained and will continue to explain my son's great needs to get Medicaid so he can see this provider. I am fearful that my son could become a troubled misfit teen someday if we don't get the right help for him now. We are trying so hard as parents to give him the proper upbringing, but he is becoming so unmanageable and my husband and I are burning out at both ends with his refusal to listen 85% of the time. I have seen other troubled autistic teens, and it is just awful! :disrelieved: I outright refuse for my son to wind up like that to ends of the universe! He had ABA services from another provider before and it worked wonders. He has otherwise been such a sweet happy little boy and we don't want to see that go. We have to win our appeal. It is very much needed and essential at this point. Pray for the greatest best outcome. God Bless You All!
