She's not Messianic
Ah, my error. Appears she is a traditional Christian

I think she is taking a course in Hebrew at Uni.
That wasn't really made clear in the OP. With the emphasis on what name to use, it seemed Messianic
to me as they seem to put much more emphasis on the "correct" usage. I've never seen that at traditonal
Jewish studies.
It is very courteous to not want to offend Jews
We really don't offend that easily :)

Why do you find it necessary to always make exclusionary remarks that divide Messianics from Jews?
Because that divide exists. Just ask Messianics. And I am not saying this to be snide...if you feel thatway about my posts, do not read them.

FYI -

The Title of the OP is -
What to say when I see God's name?

I don't see where your response has anything to do with my post, as I did not mention the Father.

Secondly, why wouldn't God's only Begotten Son, have the same name as His Father.

11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11 NIV

The name of YHWH is Jesus.

Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me. Isaiah 45:21

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Titus 2:13

Jesus is the name of the only Lord, who is our God and Savior.

YHWH is not Jesus. Those Hebrew letters are the name of Yahovah, Yahweh, ...

Hebrew Letter name Pronunciation
י Yod [j]
ה He [h]
ו Waw [w], or placeholder for "O"/"U" vowel (see mater lectionis)
ה He [h] (or often a silent letter at the end of a word)

Do you understand what the name means, what you call Jesus is actually Yeshua or Yehoshua, which means 'salvation' Remember that Mary was told to name him this because 'he will save his people'?

That name is in the 'Old Testament' el Yeshua. so , yes the Father gave the son that name because he was the one to bring to completion the salvation promised. But this is not the YHVH name.

The "el" is not necessary. Ya-hosuha in itself means "Yah is salvation."

It is when you are taking it directly from the scriptures. אֵ֧ל יְשׁוּעָתִ֛י

And if you are so fluent in Hebrew why would you even think to say this, let alone try and correct me?

The name of YHWH is Jesus.

Jesus is the name of the only Lord, who is our God and Savior.

It is a shame that the Greek changed his name and we don't know this without knowing the Hebrew

Luke 3:6
AND ALL FLESH WILL SEE THE SALVATION OF GOD.

If you transfer that from Greek to Hebrew and then English it will read

And all flesh will see G-ds Yeshua.

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Titus 2:13

The scriptures themselves clearly and plainly teach us the simple and irrefutable truth.

Those who practice the religion of Judaism, deny Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. The Word Who is God and became flesh.

He is YHWH, Who made Covenant with Abraham.

Jesus is YHWH Who was pierced for our transgressions.

As it is written -

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Zechariah 12:10

It was YHWH Who spoke through the Mouth of Zechariah, and made this statement about Himself.

Peter also testifies that it was the Spirit of Christ who spoke through the mouth of the prophets, and clearly that was YHWH.

10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 1 Peter 1:10-11

the Spirit of Christ who was in them ...

You err no knowing the scriptures.

If you're interested in pronouncing it as a person who is more engaged in the history of the language, I would go with Yahveh (using the modern pronunciation of ו as v). It would be pointed thus:

יַהְוֶה
(I would suggest that you download the font SBL BibLit to your system and install it.)

Once you have pointed it this way, you can read it according to its letters and points. It also sounds better even in traditionally Jewish songs.

shir la-ma'alot
esa einai el he-harim
me-ayin yavo ezri
ezri me'im Yahveh
oseh shamayim va-arets

etc.

Piggybacking off your post, I can add the following:

European scholarship prefers Jahve, pronounced Ya-ve (the "e" as in "enter", not "ee".) Often it will be spelled JHVH.

American contemporary scholarship prefers Yahweh, pronounced (hilariously) as Ya-wey.

In regards to spelling the best is probably to spell YHWH or Hashem. In regards to pronunciation, I'd say the name of the letters, (so I'd say Yod-Hey-Wav-Hey) or I'd say Hashem.
