This rests at the core of the sin Paul tries to speak against in the Corinthian church. They had this pride of speaking in tongues and did not recognize how this one gifting of God was only part of His plan. They had a gift, but they did not have the greatest gift of love when they used it.

Tell you the truth, I think it becomes a scary topic when people impose upon the Scripture their own personal desires or human tradition. Some of the confusion comes from a basic miunderstanding of what the Gift of tongues is and what praying in tongues is. Regarding the question of praying...
