Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets. ~ Amos 3:7

Now some will say that this was only in reference to the Old Covenant, but even in the book of Acts we see prophets, namely Agabus, prophecying about coming events. So my question to you who believe that prophecy is still a thing, or can be anyway.

Who are the prophets we should be listening to now?

There are SO MANY who are fake. So many who have labelled themselves prophets without any actual anointing. But certainly there are some with legitimate callings and proven words.

The true prophets constantly called for repentance from our disobedience to God's law, while in Deuteronomy 13:1-5, the way that God instructed to determine that someone was a false prophet who was not speaking for Him even if they performed signs and wonders was if they taught against obeying His law.

Partly correct.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 (BSB)
You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

There was an expectation that a prophet could predict future events. If those things did not come to pass, then that person was not speaking from God. Now the overall message of the prophets was repentance yes, but prophets did more than just preach repentance.

Moses called down plagues from God.
Elijah called down fire from Heaven, and prayed a drought on the land.
Elisha made an axe head float, healed a leper of leprosy, etc.

You get where I'm going with this.

I'm of the opinion, and belief, that prophets still exist. This thread is seeking whom out there in Christianity has prophesied correctly and thus is worthy of consideration.

Indeed, there is more to determining who a prophet is than just whether or not the call for repentance or speak against obeying God's law, though I think that is a requirement that is easy to check off considerably narrows down the list of who is worthy of consideration.

Do you happen to know any true, authentic prophets currently? Seen any post any verifiable messages on YouTube or something? I'm curious

My mom spent a lot more time listening to people on Youtube claiming to be prophets, but a lot of them were wrong about the last election cycle, so it makes me pretty skeptical about that kind of thing. There were prophets in the Bible who performed signs and wonder, though the core of their message was still the call for repentance, and it seems that is a pretty solidly verifiable message. Prophesies tend to make a lot more sense looking backward so I prefer to wait and see.

For sure, there is a period where anyone who "prophesies" is neither true nor false. Although, we'd likely immediately categorize people as such if they've a track record of being right or wrong.

The point of this thread is not to bring focus on false prophecy. We do that a bunch around here. It's actually trying to bring light to true prophets. They are likely going to be difficult to spot online. I'd imagine a true prophet would not want the kind of attention that would come with having an online ministry or focus. But still, it'd be interesting to see who out there has spoken truly from the Lord in these days.

How would you know if a person was an actual prophet? What things are you looking for?

What would you expect of a real prophet of God? This is not a trick question. I'm curious if anyone here in this sub knows of any men or women who have spoken from the Lord concerning previous events and were right.

You get these hacks who prophecy wealth in 2 years or this person or that will win an election. What about people like Agabus who predicted a drought. Someone who has accurately foretold an event before occuring.

Good question.

Today, I mostly hear the prophetic voice publicly spoken thru good, solid Bible teachers.

I can't think of any popular present day 'prophet' that I take seriously.
(Listen long enough, and inevitably one hears them say something that is "off".)

But yes, where are the Jeremiahs? Warning of what is to come?
No more? No more need of them?
Maybe not ... ?

(I'll be reading along ... )

There were different prophets in the OT. Ones that wrote scripture, ones that operated more in the power gifts, and ones that operated in the revelation gifts.

For some reason everyone looks at the person claiming to operate in the word of wisdom and they forget there are other types that GOD can bring on the scene.

Ok well my OP I quoted from Amos, in the context is what I'm looking for.

Not trying to derail your thread, but for me,.... I won't accept a person calling themselves a prophet unless I see GOD verifying it with His power. With the advent of all these false ones, I want to see GOD demonstrating His power through one before I accept them. That would be the only way I would begin to take such a person serious.

Ok. When you say, "I want to see God demonstrate His power", are you talking signs and wonders type deal, to go along with the message?

I was really only asking for those who've predicted some event(s) and it came to pass. But yeah, seeing a prophet walk in power along with the message would be quite edifying

Yes. I want to see a prophet like Elijah, something more than just words.

I really believe there are very few true prophets. But Satan is very sneaky, he even seeds his false prophets with some true prophecy, to trap people into listening to them. I started a channel aimed at discerning YouTube prophecy (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChJqJU49LQbiAz1E6qWoVvA). I eventually gave up trying to discern prophecy on YouTube due to the huge number of false prophets. My spiritual abilities are also quite low myself so I just found it confusing.

There is one guy that I wonder if he is a true prophet is Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj. The reason I say this is David Hogan a minister who I trust, who walks in the miraculous like raising the dead, allowed Sadhu to pray for him. If you know David Hogan he hates false prophets. Sadhu has also walked in the Spiritual gifts like healing.

I also trust Sadhu's End Time Theology, I personally do not believe there will be a rapture, I believe that we will be here for the tribulation. Sadhu also believes that.
