The IRS is hiring special agents prepared to use 'deadly force' if needed and is paying up to $95,000

They will conduct arrests, search warrants, and "other dangerous assignments." But most importantly, they must be legally allowed to carry a gun.

The agents must be prepared to protect themselves or others "from physical attacks at any time and without warning and use firearms in life-threatening situations" and shouldn't be afraid to "use force up to and including the use of deadly force."

What the major media is not telling you is that the GOP legislation aims to to stop the addition of all of these added armed IRS agents, and many other items to help the American people such as stopping Joe's payout of student loans, which would pay off the debt of wealthy Democrat staffers. Do you really believe Democrats when they claim the IRS agents are necessary to go after billionaires? Do you really believe that U.S. billionaires of today are ready to shoot it out with IRS agents? The IRS under the Biden regime already has over two million rounds of ammunition, is that what it is going to take to make billionaires pay their taxes? How many rounds is this per billionaire?

IRS Criminal Investigation Agent's are nothing new. They've been around for more than 100 years.

100 years of tax crime fighting: The group of special IRS employees that we know today as the IRS' Criminal Investigation division began 100 years ago, specifically on July 1, 1919.

That's the day that then IRS Commissioner Daniel C. Roper created the Intelligence Unit to investigate widespread allegations of tax fraud. Six United States Post Office Inspectors were transferred to the IRS to form the new unit, becoming the first special agents in charge of the organization that would one day become Criminal Investigation.

The financial investigative skill of the Intelligence Unit's special agents soon attained well-deserved plaudits.

In the 1930s, the Unit attained national prominence with the conviction of public enemy number one, Al Capone, for income tax evasion. It also played a role in solving the Lindbergh kidnapping.

Some IRS agents carry guns, too, agents tell UAB accounting student group
Updated: Oct. 21, 2010,

Not all Internal Revenue Service agents sit around in offices looking at tax records. Thousands of them investigate crimes -- they carry guns, wear bullet-proof vests, conduct stake-outs and interrogate suspects, just like an agent of the FBI or CIA.

"My first day on the job, I thought, 'Why are they carrying guns?'" said Donald Smith, a UAB graduate and special agent with the IRS-Criminal Investigation unit.

Smith and two other special agents with the IRS-CI unit spoke to a group of UAB accounting students on Wednesday. The presentation was sponsored by the UAB chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an honors society for accounting students through the department of accounting and finance at the UAB School of Business.

The types of cases that IRS special agents conduct vary, but they include tax evasion, money laundering and drug trafficking, said special agent Michael Alfano. Smith, Alfano and a third agent, Kristina Waluyn, explained to the students the training and qualifications necessary to become an agent.

Drop That 1040 Form!

Here’s a pitch for the next great TV procedural: The main characters are a group of eight special agents burrowed inside of the seedy underbelly of Manhattan’s criminals. These investigators are just a fraction of the 2,600 crime-fighting agents nationwide—a cadre of highly trained professionals who have no equal in American law enforcement. They follow up on leads, go undercover, and execute search warrants, all in the hope of bringing a little more justice to America. And, yes, there will be drug busts. The characters won’t be cookie-cutter gruff cops as on all the other police dramas. No, all of our agents will have a quirk nobody sees coming:

They’re accountants.

The special agents belong to a 4,000-strong segment of the IRS called the criminal investigation division. These aren’t the jackboot auditors who caused trouble in the late ’90s. These guys only go after the bad guys who display criminal intent. They’re tasked with investigating any crime that skirts tax law, which essentially means any crime that involves money. They’re the utility players of the federal-law-enforcement world, working with agents from a host of different departments to run busts on a host of different crimes. Samples of their exploits are available on the IRS website, but some highlights for you to get the feel of their beat: Working with the DEA on drug busts (because the money exchanged in drug deals isn’t taxed), working with the FBI on public corruption cases (because money has probably changed hands under the table), and working alone from exotic tax havens to bust tax evaders.

I am sorry that there are people in this country who own guns "to keep government from overstepping their bounds" and who endanger civil servants doing their job--whether IRS agents, social workers investigating child abuse, or anyone else with whom they disagree.

If I had my druthers our society would be blissfully gun-free, like Australia's. But given the danger honest people are in for doing their jobs, I think IRS agents being armed is wise.

I think they are putting that many armed agents on to follow the money of the biden family, after they received millions of dollars from other countries.

This is fascinating and worth of a thread of its own rather than derailing this one.

Yes, I do believe the new agents (most of which will not have a gun) are necessary. Look at the number of agents from 50 years ago to the present and see how the per capita number of agents has steeply declined.

As others have pointed out -- aren't Republicans the ones claiming to be for law and order? Yet we see frequent calls from Republicans to defund the police (the FBI) and to keep the IRS from enforcing our tax laws.

Yeah... Joe and the libs are building themselves a little army they can sic on people. These agents are not going after their favorite target, the millionaires and billionaires. They are coming after you. It is exceeding easy to target people for tax issues. A nice pretext for coming to get their political rivals.

I thought permitless carry was conservative heaven.
The hypocrisy of the left. Another demonstration that the left is against guns when their own are attacked, while promoting the violation of rights and even shootings of their political opponents.

My mom worked for the FBI. The FBI of today is not about law and order, they have corrupt leadership controlled by the far left.

Fear not. This "little army" of IRS agents has been around for decades as has already been pointed out in this thread, and the strength of this "little army" has actually been higher in numbers in past years.

Meanwhile in a Land Down Under....Australian Tax Office (ATO) staff are (possibly) armed to the teeth with panic buttons:

Tax Office staff to be given panic buttons on mobile phones amid security fears

Disclaimer: the article was written in 2018. It's not clear if the ATO ever actually got their mobile phone duress alarms. In any case, we have yet to lose an ATO staff member to an attack by an armed (or unarmed) customer.

In the United States the IRS was previously caught going after conservative groups. Now the commissioner of the IRS is putting out propaganda to support the IRS while he should be focusing on the huge backlog of returns. The IRS currently has over 2 MILLION ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION!!!!!
How many Americans in the past year have fired at IRS agents???

I dunno.

With all the bullets whizzing around over there it must be hard to tell who's shooting at who.

Yes - the weaponized IRS of the Obama years is still in the memory of lots of people. But hey the head of the IRS said she would not use the extra agents the lawless way she did before....soooooo we can just believe that.

So you claim. Interesting that it has been controlled by a Trump appointed Republican (who apparently became a "Leftist" the moment he took the job). Of course, it is just an offshoot of the argument made about the Supreme Court for most of my life; how there has been a "leftist majority" that entire time, despite the fact the last time there were more justices appointed by a Democratic President rather than a Republican President was over 50 years ago; solid conservatives seem to magically turn into Democrats according to these conspiracies.

The most amazing is how former AG Barr is one of those 'Democrats,' too, since he didn't have the "courage" to support Trump's election lies.

That election officials told lies about Georgia is undeniable by logic, because the various tales of the delay changes and were contradictory. There still is no verified explanation that I have seen justifying the delay. Much of what happened we simply do not know. There are prominent Democrats who are election deniers with far less evidence, and where there are improprieties people, Democrat, Republic, or other are going to seriously question the results. If I were a Republican or a Democrat for any election I would do as much as I could to make the process as transparent and fair as possible. That means things like voter ID and video cameras for the whole chain of custody. As to the rest of the election, the executive branch was weaponized by the Biden campaign instigated by an effort to see Joe was elected. I call that election interference. Not all Democrats are supporting dishonest statements by Joe and his administration. Democrats in border states with Mexico have strongly spoken out.
