No problem with that. Just please tell the coach not to make a spectacle of it.
Why not? If 1000 people want to flood the field and pray, that would be completely legitimate, and they would all be within their rights to do so. If 1000 people wanted to have a rock concert spectacle, it would be allowed. If 1000 people wanted to rush the field after their team won, that would be acceptable. Public prayer is no different than these.
People will have to learn to be tolerant of others and what others believe. It is a part of life and they have to grow into it. Throw away their hate and prejudice.

Please don't insult my intelligence. The coach was making a specific, well thought out and planned public display of his faith. He even contacted local news and tv outlets to advertise that fact. That's unacceptable from my personal view and unacceptable from a secular viewpoint and in regard to the school in regard to his position of authority.

I'm honestly surprised that there haven't been any posts from Christians along the lines of 'He should stop - he's not doing our faith any favours'.

It is unacceptable to you because apparently you are intolerant and have prejudices against people and displays of faith.
I have some good books on tolerance, pluralism, and diversity if you would like.

It was intolerable to Jesus, too.

In the day of Jesus, people accepted religion and honored those who were leaders in the faith. They were looked up to and were like celebrities today.
Today in the USA is a very different story. People praying in public are more likely to be cursed at, mocked, and persecuted. Christians are to be salt and light. We are not to hide because people do not like us or even hate us. Christians and people of faith season the nation and culture and keep the standards high. Today they are ridiculed and have been intimidated into hiding and being silent. Some are refusing to be silenced. Some are not ashamed or intimidated. Ultimately they will profess Christ as He commanded us, and those that hate us (all the while professing "tolerance") will show their true colors.

The US is 70% Christian and one of the most religious first world countries. Where and how are Christians being jeered at for praying or forced into hiding?

I've no problem with religion, religious people, praying or anything else connected with belief. But the coach wanted to make a spectacle out of his belief.

I'm against that.

Which is probably why Jesus’ teachings went over so well, He was just continuing on with the Rabbinic tradition with better parables and such. Nothing revolutionary about His message, just better delivery.

Do something about the Jim Bakkers and Joel Osteens then?

I t think that is more in the eyes of the beholder. You can make a spectacle out of anything you have stronger feelings about. It says more about the seer, I think than the doer.

That you think that a very public showing of a personal belief at a secular event such as a footy game (to the point where he contacted local news and tv outlets to advertise the fact) is normal already puts us at opposite ends of an incredibly wide divide.
His contract was not renewed for contacting the media.
I've always held to Matthew 6:5-6. If that's good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me. I'm sure He'd have taken the opportunity to take the guy to task. A quiet word in his ear, no doubt, about hypochrites.
LOL. This is fresh coming from an atheist. Is what Jesus says about judging others good enough for you, too? Or are you just selective in your agreement with him when it suits you?

No, his contract was not renewed because he didn't apply for the next season.

This video shows a spectacle; actually it goes beyond a spectacle. Either way, Justice Gorsuch seems to think this is what a "quiet prayer of thanks" looks like.

And you would be incorrect. This is not why Coach Joe's contract was not renewed, or any of the incidents cited by the School District in the court case.

Not true. It was recommended by the head coach not to rehire him, which is pretty much a job killer. Then the lawsuit was filed. The job postings for the next season don't open for a while after the season, possibly not until the spring for fall sports. He can't apply if there is no posted job. He cannot be reinstated until he re-applies, though.

I do not think the SCOTUS has weighed in on the idea that Christians have to hide in the US.
Their decision was a step against that position. That is why they made it.
