A 93-year-old suburban Los Angeles homeowner, who a relative said was frustrated over being the victim of numerous home break-ins, shot and critically wounded a burglar and scared off the would-be thief's accomplices, according to authorities.

The retired plumber, identified as Joe Howard Teague by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, turned the tables on the group of home invaders early Wednesday when he grabbed his gun and confronted them inside his house in Moreno Valley, the sheriff's office said.

Brazil lowered it's murder rate by reducing firearm regulations and making them easier to get

My guess is the good folk of the city throw the book at the man who was only protecting his property and maybe his life and the life of his family.

How can this blood thirst be reconciled with the love in us?

We should instead hope for just warning shots to be enough so they could run away unharmed.

Celebrating that the poor 93 old had to become a killer in his own home is a very strange mindset. It will probably have a very heavy impact on his mental state, even if we want to totally ignore the impact on the family and friends of the killed one.

If you celebrate that a 93-old killed somebody in his home and regret that he did not kill more of them, then you are also creating the jungle.

There is nothing wrong about defending yourself. There is much wrong about trying to kill or to harm and regretting there was not more blood.
