[QUOTE="redleghunter, post: 69673809, member: 348895" Kind of like a ship's counselor when guys get into slumps to work out mental strategies. Go figure[/QUOTE]
Having your head on straight is a major aspect of the game without it you'll never succeed...

An interesting piece here:

http://www.onestrikeaway.com/index/2016/5/24/shaking-up-the-rangers-offense

Recommend reading it all but wanted to share his assessment of Fielder and MM:

I've been accused of beating a dead horse on this one, but I'm mentioning it again: Prince Fielder is having an abysmal season. We're beyond the point of saying he's simply in an extended slump. With 183 plate appearances under his belt, we've got a significant amount of data with which to say that his wOBA of .255 is cause for concern. That translates to a wRC+ of 49, or 51 percent below league average.

From an offensive standpoint, Prince is the 6th-worst player in baseball thus far. The five in front of him? Four play shortstop, and one is a catcher. Prince Fielder is a designated hitter. He's supposed to be your big bat from an offense-only position.

Moving right along, there's also
Mitch Moreland. His wOBA is .300 -- 30th worst in MLB -- with a wRC+ of 79, or 21 percent below league average. He's your starting first baseman. It's a position in which players are often expected to hit for more power to make up for being in the least-demanding defensive spot on the field.

In the middle of these two guys, on most days,
Jeff Banister has Adrian Beltre. That Beltre has put up a wOBA of .328 -- a wRC+ of 98 -- hitting between two veritable black holes... well, that's something of a minor miracle, now that I think of it.

Don't think either one of them are adapting very well to the steady diet of offspeed stuff on the outside corner. Also wonder how much the new batting philosophy is effecting them, they both seem like they hit better earlier in the count. They are facing a LHer tonight so I would seriously think about giving them an extra day off to watch film and get some extra swings in. They are calling up Profar that should make things a lot easier since he's a switch hitter, and he's been hot lately...

Have Roogie on my fantasy team. Benched him dropped another player and picked up Profar to backfill Roogie during the suspension.

Did you see the bomb Bryce Harper hit last night??? If the upper deck wasn't there it probably would have left the park, definitely over 500'...

Have to look it up.

They say it went 440' but if the deck wasn't there it would have been quite a bit farther...

Mazara's bomb Wednesday went 437 or 9' but unobstructed distance was calculated at 491'...

Lol that was a bomb.

Last night's game Rangers Pirates. No words can express how bad the game went.

Fielder and Moreland are black holes in that line up

I can't imagine that they are going to stink the entire year they should get it together sooner or later, bta I could be wrong. Either way they need a few days off to watch film and get in the cages to fix what is wrong or fix their strategy at the plate. If they want to pitch you outside then you need to sit on the outside pitch and start punishing the pitcher for throwing it. After awhile they will get the hint and start throwing something different that my be more to their liking...

Both Prince and MM went yard today. Glad to see that.

And both were early in the count Moreland 1st pitch and Fielder 2nd pitch. Which is where you normally catch a fastball or two cause most pitchers want to get ahead in the count, then get you to chase junk later in the count. Morelands HR was a nice upper deck shot measured at 440' which means unobstructed it was close to 500', not bad at all...

Perez did a nice job on the mound again kept the damage to a minimum, looks like he's finally "getting it". Now all he has to do is start going 7 innings on a regular basis and he will be set...

Looks like Profar is doing just fine, if he keeps this up the team is eventually going to have a very hard decision to make especially if he does well in the leadoff position. (Since they resigned Adrian it makes it even harder no place to put the third person at the end of the season).

If they think Profar can play the OF (I.E. his arm is ok) since he has in the past they will send Hoying back when it comes time for Roogies suspension to end. But then will they keep him when Choo comes back or will they send Alberto back and use Profar as an "everyday" utility man to give others rest while he still gets playing time and leads off???

Every day utility is best now for Profar. But they need to play him. If not send him back to get every day at bats. Wash sat Profar in 2013 when he was up and that set him back I think.
