I don't know what that means for Trump but given all of his bluster I don't see how it can be good. Rubio just gave a speech listening to which you would have thought he took first in a landslide.

It will be interesting to hear how Trump plays this.

And he is walking on now...

Given Trumps previous behavior towards people who don't support him, I can only assume he'll never set foot in the state again.

Whenever Iowa walks into the room he'll get up and leave.

The Donald gave a nice concession speech ... and spoke kindly of Iowans.

Well consider that everyone thought Rubio would be about 11% I would say he has a lot to praise his team for. However Trump was way to sure of himself.

Rubio's close third was the biggest story of the night.

Because he knows that despite the hype, the Iowa results don't mean squat on the national level. IIRC, Santorum won Iowa in 2012, and Huckabee in 2008.

Iowa means little, the last winner of Iowa who became President was GW Bush

I believe that last time that Iowa didn't vote for the president was in 1992. That's 5 in a row.

Agreed.

Now, on to NH.

Rubio has a chance to lock everyone else out if he comes in 3rd in NH. In any case, there are only 4 tickets, at most, out of NH.

We should see lots of candidates drop out in the next 10 days.

I understand Huckabee is out already.
Yes

I can't see Santorum, Fiorina or Paul lasting very long.

NH is make it go home for Christie and Kasich.

Carson should also drop out, but he may wait for South Carolina.

Bush should also drop out, but may wait until after South Carolina or even Florida.

That leaves only 3 in a month.

Ted Cruz - 28%
Trump - 24%
Rubio - 23%

Much better than any of the polls predicted.
And actually Trump and Rubio straight up tied as far as actual delegates go. Nice to see Trump not winning - frankly I dislike Cruz and Rubio a lot, but I'd take literally any of the current candidates (Republican or Democrat) as President over Trump.

As a Canadian, thank you for slowly teaching me how this system works. It's so much more interesting and impactful to hear it spoken in a dialogue than to simply read it out of a textbook!
I appreciate your knowledge!

And Iowa's decision in the Republican race is--drum roll, please--we don't care.

I see 8 delegates for Cruz, 7 for Rubio and, 7 for Trump.

In the big scheme of things, 1 delegate additional for Cruz means nothing. It's a draw. Other then limit the race to a threesome, this resolved little.

So if the convention comes down to a 3 way race--and it just might--Iowa will stand up and divide its votes equally among everybody. They might as well stay home as give 7 delegates to each.
