I am still confused, BECAUSE even with that being true are they not still generational DEPENDENCE. Meaning that they keep being on welfare generation after generation.

you are talking about a very small percentage of the population. Did you not read the paper I linked regarding time limits? If you don't start trying to educate yourself on that which you insist on pontificating on (which is a whopping 5% of the ENTIRE federal budget) you will continue to expose yourself as ignorant and unwilling to consider anything honest and truthful regarding this issue.

A little known fact about social security...
If you collect Social Security Disability payments (SSDI), you CANNOT make more than another 900 dollars a month or your SSDI will be taken away. MOST SSDI payments are right at 1000.00 per month.

Social Security retirement...again...if you do not work for a company that offers either a pension or 401(k) plan, and have worked where you are barely getting by your entire working life...HOW ON EARTH are you going to "save" for retirement? Explain that to me, please. I'm dying to hear how you have it all worked out.

You cannot make or you cannot have with SSDI; because I know that it is not as strict as SSI.

I will admit I did not read the paper. I understand that there are limits, but I am trying to understand how can there even BE much generational poverty at ALL if there is not some level of dependence?

You CANNOT MAKE over another 900 dollars a month if you are on SSDI...which by the way is a DISABILITY payment. If you're disabled enough to not be able to work, then you shouldn't be working, right? The rules are probably a bit more lenient because IT IS NOT WELFARE. SSDI payments only go to those who have worked long enough to QUALIFY for the payments...get it now? WORK? It's something like 10 years of work history to qualify for SSDI. IT IS NOT WELFARE...it is a benefit extended to working people who have paid into Social Security.

As for most welfare receipts being white; what are the PERCENTAGES? In other words, given the percentage of people OVERALL who are of a given race in the country. If 40% of welfare families are white, BUT the overall percentage of whites in this country is 60 or 70% and other races make up a several percentage difference as compared to their entire percentage of citizens?

I have A LOT of brain fog LOL due to physical problems so I have a hard time getting out what is in my head so remembering where scriptures are and not having time to look them up all the time to quote them exactly right but I am always reminded of the ones that mention whatsoever you do to the LEAST of His people you have done until Him, and how the rich man was turned away because he wouldn't sell all he had (wonder how many would still be a Christian if God commanded that of them?), and just so many other scriptures some that the OP has pointed out not to mention all the judging that goes on by so many Republican Christians regarding Liberal Christians that might just be first in the eyes of God (the scripture about the first shall be last and the last shall be first) and oh, can't forget the one about the Pharisee and the publican. So many DIFFERENT interpretations of the Scriptures by spiritual people when God knows who has the correct interpretations but I much rather take my chances with those that REALLY show the love of God to other people (after all that is how the Bible states we would be known to be His people by our LOVE one toward another) and no, that does not mean we show love to sin but we do show love to the sinner, to those that are hungry, sick, poor, etc. and no matter how you say it it's not love to want to stop the sick and poor from getting help any legal way they can

But another point before I stop rambling LOL is how so many that seem to condemn the poor and sick getting help at the same time don't seem to be complaining much about all the bail outs and tax refunds to those wealthy people that don't even pay taxes. etc.

Suppose I moved to Mexico, I would not expect them to speak English no I would learn Spanish maybe not as much as they did, but I would at least aquire a BASIC level of Spanish.

Outside income cannot be over 900 dollars a month. If you have rental properties that you're making money from, you don't need SSDI. I went thru the SSDI process with my husband...they counted HIS income only...which at the time was essentially zero. If someone applying for SSDI has ANY form of income, they do not qualify for it. Go to the social security website and read up on it. I'm tired of explaining things to you that can easily be found using Google.

40% of welfare recipients are white. What's the problem? Do you not like brown people getting welfare? Does it fall into your notions of how certain people of certain races are "lazy"? There is a graphic in this thread regarding percentages.

There is a great inequality in this country based on race...I wonder what all those civil rights marches were about in the 60's?

There are plenty of sites that give those facts, numbers, demographics, how programs work, how much of the federal budget goes towards those particular programs. Go check all that out and then come back and fuss about how welfare is bankrupting the country.
