well those street preachers were doing peaceful protest,
In general they are...

but everyone seems to want to call them bullies
When an adult gets loudly in the face of an 8 y/o.

Context is everything.

Or the child got in the face of the street preacher. Context truly is everything.

Doesn't much matter - not that that's what it looks like. Expectations are not the same for an adult and an 8 year old, an 8 year old is not ranting loudly, but the adult is, and without stilts she cannot "get in his face" or intimidate him.

For pity's sake.

Hmmm....ebia.....weren't you just telling me that peaceful protest is a vital part of political debate and that I should respect the little girl for excising her right?

So the adult should censor himself, and censor his peaceful protest because he has different "expectations" placed on him by society? Sounds like a double standard.

I wouldn't call overbearing and loudly haranguing a little girl appropriate. That's not a "free speech" question, it's a question of abuse of size and power.

The little girl:
a. Does not behave like that
B. Is not capable of exerting that
C. Is 8 years old and therefore there are different expectactions.

Yes, c is a "double standard" in a sense. We rightly hold adults to different standards to small children. To not is unbelievably absurd.

Age, and power differential, are part of the context.

So basically you are saying that the street preacher should walk away if a kid comes walking up with a rainbow flag? Though we should adults to different standards, in this case the adult was only exercising the same right that the little girl was.

That would be one appropriate response.

Though we should adults to different standards, in this case the adult was only exercising the same right that the little girl was.
He's not behaving equivalently, because of the power differential.

Calling it "the same right" is misleading. It's not the right being exercised (free speech) that's the issue. It's the nature of the behavior in relation to the other. An adult overbearing a small child and ranting at her is not appropriate. At no time does she do anything similar in reverse, even if she could it wouldn't have the same intimidation aspect...

Her name is Zea. Story is she stood her ground with this guy for 8 minutes before she turned around and walked away. The video and explanation on this event doesn't seem to indicate that anyone put her up it.

I didn't have this much guts when I was 8. Even if my mom was standing behind me.
praise God that this little girl got to hear the gospel of the Lord Jesus and that seed can grow in her to the salvation of her soul .

She didn't.
What she will have heard is Jesus-bully

look at you judging folks for preaching the gospel and defending a littrle girl opposing the principles of god.. but we know its her parents she unwittingly represents . she has no idea of the intricacies around the topic of sexuality .she is indoctrinated by parents and your indirectly condoning their actions .

here is what the girl heard...

" you can have a life with his redeeming power .
you can have some one to look after you and to love you
and get you through your life
Christ will give you that ,this world will not give you that ,
this world will give you heartache ,this world will give you divorce, this world will give you pain
but Jesus Christ comes to redeem people ...
[vid is cut off at that point to stop more message being heard ]
.. and you called it Jesus bully ... ??

nope she heard the above words and more and the seed went in and that is a good thing as the good news is the power of god unto salvation to every one who believes .. and I am not ashamed of it .

Those are the words said, but combined with the other parts of the language - voice and body language - it's not what she'll have heard.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, but the righteous shall live by faith .

...faith that the good news of the lord JESUS has the power to save those that will believe ..and how will they believe except they hear .
he did not confront her .. she confronted him and he leaned down to address that good news to her .. she heard .. the seed is sown .it may be it utterly confuses her because its opposite to everything she has been told at home . the power is not in the delver of the message the power is in the message itself ..
you've judged him according to this world .. not according to Gods word .

If you ask me, there is not way to tell from this picture, who confronted who. I looked at it again, and I don't know how you can tell that fine detail.
oh sorry.. a little way down the thread there is a link to the video clip ...

they say a picture paints a thousand words .. but a picture misrepresented ,can paint a thousand lies ..hmmm ;)

Ummmm...the street preacher was not being very confrontational at all. His message was that Christ saves, and based on the short video, he delivered it without condemning anyone.

I am guessing that the little girl does not have Jesus in her life, so where is the harm here?

Here are some facts. The little girl stoof.there, holding the flag in front of the man. The man bent toward her and preached in a loud manner. When an unknown man does that to a six year old, he is intimidating to that child. What he was saying is almost irrelevant.
This is another one of those threads in which if the situations were reversed, well, you know the rest... ad nausem

WA, I did not mention homophobia. The topic of the confrontation does not matter. The adult was bullying a child and screaming at her in an overbearing manner. He could have been saying anything. His body language, directed at the child was inexcusable. Preaching the Gospel of the Lord should never be done in an intimidating and threatening manner.

I do not have children, but if i did and an adult got in her face like that, he would certainly regret it.

How would you react had this been your child, holding a poster of Pope Francis, and some Pentecostal preacher was screaming in her face about the Catholic Church worshiping idols?
Don't underestimate children ;At the same age I took on more than this in
attacking an 'orange' man on a parade singing songs to kill us .(catholics).

This little girl is an example of the brainwashing that the 'lobby' wish to continue,
until they have divided families and churches, and until their children will denounce them to the 'Authority' . The gay manifesto 1987( on the net).

PS. The guy is silly, and does'nt help the christian message .

There are times I seriously can't believe this board. I post a relatively innocent pic of a little girl showing some courage and character by standing up for what she believes

and what happens ?

40+ posts that can be summed up as:

1) She's a grievous sinner who needs to hear what this guy has to say
2) She's a stooge for the homosexual agenda.
4) She's a dupe for her parents
5) She's been brainwashed
6) The "preacher" has every right to bully this kid because - Christianity!
7) (and my personal favorite) She's the one who got into the 220 pound "preachers" face and he didn't have to back down, she's doing the bullying.

She's seven yeasr old, she probably still writes letters to Santa, she's barely at the age of reason.

I realize you guys are still stinging from the losses but, get a grip, are you even reading what you're posting ?

Like she actually understands what she is doing or the ramifications of gay marriage.

Of course she was put up to this. C'mon people, don't be goofy.
