She was divorced by any standard other than technically.
I can assure you that when one is separated but not yet divorced, that "technicality" is not trivial to the parties involved, is not trivial to the government and is certainly not trivial to anyone else they might be getting better acquainted with.

In other words, it's not a "technicality" at all ... it's what their marital status is.

Indeed. People who are separated but not married are technically married

It isn't splitting hairs, it is just wrong. Your use of the word "testified" is far more dishonest than anything Davis ever did. She was divorced by any standard other than technically. If it was "testifying" before a grand jury, or something similarly, you might have a point.

"Technically" = legally. That's a pretty big technicality. When I talk about my first marriage, I say I was married a year and a half, not 6 months, which is the "technical" amount of time we weren't separated.

Of course, there's more to being a single mother than marital status. There's plenty of women who are *technically* married yet raising kids alone, for whatever reason.
Some women, like Wendy Davis, lie about it

If you say so. Wasn't she, at some point, raising kids by herself?

By the way, since you're still online, everyone's desperately interested in your response to my question in the other thread about how homosexual marriage has changed your own.

Makes you wonder why she chose to lie about it

Desperately waiting? Wow!!

Coincidence? I don't think so.

The Stand with Wendy slogan took hold during the filibuster where she... surprise! Stood for 11 hours.

What those folks caught on camera were saying was inexcusable, but to claim the Stand with Wendy slogan is a jab at Abbott is simply counterfactual.

I would almost say they've turned it into a jab based on the comments we've seen from her supporters.

One could make that case. But it's misuse now won't change the origination of the slogan back in late June/early July of last year.

It may be a jab, but it's not coming from David herself.

Has she made a statement against the comments from her supporters? That's really what she needs to do so that can distance herself from them.

What it was originally, and what if has morphed into now, are very different, and Davis did not get out ahead of it to stop its change.

As noted earlier, her supporters have been caught on video discussing the subliminal impact of that slogan since her opponent is in a wheelchair. Gotta love that tolerance

Has it morphed into that? I ask because here in Texas.. and more directly D-FW (the FW is where Sen. Davis represents), I haven't gotten a "The Stand with Wendy" slogan is a mockery of AG Abbott's being in a wheelchair vibe. Perhaps they're behind the national marching orders of the Conserisphere, but it's not even shown up on local talk radio from what I've heard.

And as debunked earlier, it is an organic slogan emerging from her filibuster, not a pre-planned malicious attack as suggested by selective skeptics.

Gotta love when selective skeptics engage in trolling rather than actually address the - as your buddy NH like to put it - FACTS. Good luck with that.

Said debunking never occurred. The origination of the slogan has nothing to do with whether or not it is now being used to send a subliminal message about Davis' opponent as voiced by her supporters on video.

As has been pointed out, it may not have started in such a way, but as evidenced by the video that was released, its viewed that way by her supporters now.

Sorry you missed it. But as your buddy NightHawkeye likes to point out, FACTS are important. And in this case your "coincidence" conspiracy theory has was debunked. Good luck with that.

You have debunked nothing. The origin of the phrase isn't the question. How her supporters commented on the phrase in context of Davis's opponent being in a wheelchair is.

Perhaps you need to go back to what your hero Mach Zero suggested:

Coincidence? I don't think so.

The slogan was in response to the filibuster. Period. That is continues to be used it in response to the filibuster. Period. That it became a slogan in late June/early July 2013. Fact.

Conspiracy theory debunked.
