I am going to have to put one of my older dogs to sleep tomorrow. A friend sent this to me. It's so sad but it makes it easier.


I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Penny never cared for dog beds (or being covered up), but loves sleeping on my crocheted afghans folded into a bed (placed on the floor next to our beds).
Once we are up, she won't go near them, so no pics are coming of her on that
Occasionally she will sleep on hubby's recliner, positioned so she can spot us immediately if we get up

They are, very aware, of 'WHOSE BED' belongs to, whom
and, that little 'bit' of 'distance' overnight, is very reassuring to them
~for, they know where we are... and, that we will meet up again next-day

If, we were to have them 'too-closely' bonded...
they would PINE for us, each time we went shopping for an hour
and, maybe even 'freak-out'
when we leave them at home for 7 -8 hours, when we do these 'trips' out

We have such a trip, up and coming, ~to Lake Windermere
I will ensure that my camera-batteries, are fully-charged
and will also take my tripod
so that the extensive landscapes, are captured, from a 'steady' base

Hopefully, the weather will be favourable, on that day

Shih Tzus must be close to us when we are home, and do very well when left alone , thankfully!

O, dogs and their beds....these babies are the llucky ones, to have caring owners.

Gracie is on the floor a lot now, because the tiles are cool...she has several chairs she likes to sleep on in the winter and she sleeps right next to me on the bed at night. We are joined at the hip I think.

Awwwwwwww 'Leo' is a little cutie

Leo is very cute...he weighs about 1 lb more than Gracie.

Rusty is 'very heavy' ...
I will jump on the scales with him later [to check]
He isn't overfed...
He likes those complete formula DRY meals [prefers it to canned-meats]




Result of the weigh-in : Rusty weighs 28lbs

according to the afficionados... Rusty is some 13 lbs overweight

sheesh, it is going to be some 'task' reducing him to the breeds maximum weight of 15 lbs

Oh wow....Rusty is a little terrier
The pics make him look bigger and I never picked up on his breed .
So he should be around the size of Penny then

Yes, Rusty isn't very big at all

It is, the close-ups that may make him appear so

He barely covers one cushion of the 3 seater settee

*I love them all, but he just cracks me up seeing him in action

He is well 'fast-enough' to chase down a rabbit or a rodent
NOT, that we have him to do such things

He already has a pigeon 'notched-up' _
I rescued it from him, but I guess it died from 'shock' some three days later
Maybe I am just 'getting-slower' but Rusty moves like 'greased lightning'


I am still awaiting the opportunity to catch him [video] walking on his hind legs
it is cute to see him doing-it [cracks me up]

Yeah the little ones are fast.......
Penny is very fast in all her movements...and also walks on her hind legs; I love it!!!
