I asked her earlier, then she went quiet on the issue. I don't think she's really thought it that far ahead yet.

Isn't it obvious?
It's the biggest conspiracy in the history of the universe.
By letting gays marries, Obama can officially marry Satan, who is on the rebound from his relationship with Saddam Hussein. Once Obama and Satan are married, they will join their evil forces and fuse into Obamatan, the ultimate liberal, democratic atheist nazicommunist, who is also a moslem and a terrorist.
Obamatan will then enslave every Christian in America, forcing them to work to build his civilization-downfall-device.
With it, Obamatan will begin his horrible 1000-year reign of tolerance, acceptance, science, atheism, reason, peace, education and equality.
So pray, that Obamatan may never succeed in making the world a better place for everyone!!

God's purpose for marriage is to illustrate the gospel,
Christ's relationship with His bride, the church.

A "gay marriage" is akin to preaching a false gospel,
and even as offensive as preaching a false gospel is,
it should not be illeagal.

Homosexuality is only a sin because it must, by definition, occur outside of marriage.
Homosexuality is only a sin because it is a form of fornication.

We heterosexuals have made more of a mockery of marriage, and sex in general, than homosexuals have the physiological capasity to do.
WHERE'S THE OUTCRY AGAINST FORNICATION?

Why don't we, heterosexuals get the "plank out of our eye" first
and certainly before we "cast the first stone".

God instituted marriage, as an illustration of Christ's relationship with His bride, the church.

Heterosexuals have distorted that in many ways,
including the hindu example, you cite.

A marriage that is not an illustration of the gospel is a distortion of marriage.

Can you provide evidence of this? Seeing as every country that has allowed gay marriage seems to be doing quite well, I'm just going to assume you have no idea what you're talking about.

However, I can understand why, with all the rampant adultery and divorcing going on among American Christian marriages, that you would not want gay people to enjoy such fruits of "traditional marriage."

Usual excuse I hear for this is that, "It will happen down the road, were just not seeing the effects yet.

In which case there should be no expectation for those who don't recognize the bible or god as authority to follow the opinions of those who do. Taken a step further, if you feel I, as an atheist, have no say about the bible, then you, living in a nonsecular society with me, have no right to tell me what I can and cannot do.

Moot point - I'm not God. Whether you recognize and obey God or not will be your problem one day. Like it or not, a day of reckoning will come, and all will be held to account to the Creator, Almighty God. As the old saying goes, "there won't be any atheists in hell."

I'll add that much of man's law has it's roots from God's Word, so God still has His Say in this short life whether you're an atheist or not. There are consequences, good or bad, in this life and the next.

Your source of 'god's law' is the bible, yes? The proof you've provided of god's existence is in the bible as well. Therefore you're proving the bible with... wait for it... the bible! There's a word for that, it's called circular logic, and it's a fallacy.

I really could care less where you think the US's government comes from, the fact is, it states explicitly:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Which isn't a law of God. Indeed, god's 'law' states:

"Do not have any other gods before me."

So in at least one instance we have US law directly contradictory to biblical law. If biblical law were the basis of this government, I'd live in a theocracy, not a democracy (or republic for the anal types). Like it or not, your religion is not the basis of my government, and your religion is not a basis by which you can tell me what to do with my personal life.

You, of course, can live by biblical law so long as it doesn't break US law (and in some cases it would- we don't stone people here). At the same time, you have no legal right to force your biblical law upon me.

Okay. So married Hindus arent really married. By another religion/church's standard. (note married Hindus are still legally married)

So by the same token of your premise, and by the constitutinal principle of separation of church and state, law should not be influenced by church. Therefore, gays should be allowed to marry bc it's only religion determining what's really "marriage".

The OP subject is "Homosexual Sin: Let the Word speak for itself". God's Word has spoken bluntly and plainly to the point there is no question or debate. Homosexual Acts are sin and they were a FELONY CRIME in all States of the United States just a few short year ago.

Like it or not, our laws are formed from Judeo-Christian values that were obtained from the Holy Bible. Separation of Church and State is a myth if one goes to the trouble of studying real history. The first English printing of the Holy Bible in America was at the direction of Congress. Thomas Jefferson while serving as President was also Superintendent of Schools for the Capitol. One of his acts was to place the Holy Bible and Isaac Watts Hymnal in every classroom as primary teaching texts. He is also accredited with the so-called myth of Separation of Church and State. It was based on a personal letter, not an official act. His personal letter basically said that the state couldn't force one to be a Baptist, Methodist, etc., etc. So, history has been butchered by those who want God out of the public square. It hasn't worked. This is why Bible Verses and Religious symbols are all over public buildings - including the Supreme Court, Congress, the White House, and on and on. This was founded as a Christian nation by Christians and for Christians. Mountains of evidence indicate that the dreams of the founders were alive and well until just about 50 years ago when they started taking prayer out of public schools. If the founders were alive today, they would be ready to fight another revolution. Freedom of religion was one of the primary reasons for the revolution. It hasn't been long ago that prayers were said before the beginning of any public event, and that included the start of a school day. Earlier in our history, one had to be a Christian to hold a public office or be a school teacher. Many of our laws, especially the most serious ones, were written with the Chapter and Verse of the Holy Bible that applied to the offense.

One can still study REAL American History if you throw out the current Godless books that have attempted to erase history. The Library of Congress is an excellent resource that I highly recommend if anyone wants the real truth about history.

One doesn't have to be a Christian to be against same-sex marriage and homosexual acts. General morals, decency, and health concerns are more than enough. If you haven't heard, there's an epidemic of disease and resulting death caused by homosexual acts.

By the way, the so-called "Separation of Church and State" is a manufactured myth. Take a strong look at about 300 years of history.

Homosexuals should be thankful for Christians. All we want to do is share the Gospel of the Grace of God with them and help them. Homosexuals still face a death sentence in many countries around the world.

Actually only the health issue is non-religious. That could be alleviated by monogamous relationships (i.e. gay marriage) or by the use of condoms, if using condoms wasn't worse than dying of aids.

By the way, the so-called "Separation of Church and State" is a manufactured myth. Take a strong look at about 300 years of history.

Been there, done that! What's your point?

Homosexuals should be thankful for Christians.

Yeah! And Jews should be thankful for Nazis.

All we want to do is share the Gospel of the Grace of God with them and help them.

And they will share, or else! Some might think them fortunate that we do live in a country, where at least for the present, Christians don't make the rules.

{quote] Homosexuals still face a death sentence in many countries around the world.[/quote]

The word "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]" means a bundle of sticks for burning. The term was first used for homosexuals in countries with an established Christian religion.
