BTW, as long as we are chatting, how did someone in Finland come to be Muslim? And why is it that you attend a Deist Church rather than a Mosque? (I didn't even know that Deists had churches these days.)

Oh, that, I'm not part of any deist church, I just used the "church" field in the way others use to indicate sub-group within a religion.

I might just as well ask you how an American came to be a Jew. And I suppose the answer would be the same; we looked, and we found the truth.

JEWLARIOUS SATIRE
-- In a celebrity wedding to end all celebrity weddings, former US President, Jimmy Carter, and current leader of the terrorist movement Hamas, Khaled Meshal , "tied the knot" in a star-studded, secret ceremony in Damascus's historic Our Mosque of the Holy Dictator. Guests tell Jewlarious (which paid $1M for exclusive rights to the story and accompanying photos) that Carter was "beaming," as he walked down the aisle in his black Giorgio Armani tuxedo and that Meshal looked slightly nervous as he wore a white Vera Wang gown, strapped with explosives. Janine Garafola, a guest of Meshal's commented, "Khalid looked exquisite dressed entirely in white, except for his hands which were stained red with blood." For his own part, Meshal commented, "I could have been nervous, but with Jimmy, such a good friend of Hamas, at my side, I started to feel so at ease."

The wedding of "J-Khal," as the media has taken to calling this celebrity couple, truly was an unexpected event. President Carter told Jewlarious, "I have been sympathetic to Hamas for many years, but, at this stage in my life, I never thought that I would fall head-over-heels in love." Weeks ago, on a visit to Damascus, Carter and Meshal met across a mine-swept field. The two had dinner, jointly declared Israel to be an illegitimate aggressor nation and then danced the night away. The rest, as they say, is history. Meshal commented, "Ever since Rosalyn died, I just haven't seen Jimmy this happy." When Jewlarious informed Meshal that Rosalyn Carter is still alive, Meshal remarked, "Really? Nothing a suicide bomber can't take care of. Who wants seventy... no eighty virgins!"
I am sure if someone posted any Jewish sattire from Arab newspapers they would get called antisemitic and even get banned

Ah but America is filled with Jews. It took me a while to find them. In fact, my first experiences with Orthodox Jews were over the computer (in the BBS pre-internet days). Had I never encountered Orthodoxy, I most assuredly would still be Catholic today.

Normally one doesn't think "Muslims" when they think of finland. That's why I asked. Did you meet someone? Read a book? Talk online? Take a university course?

You're right, Islam is practically nonexistent here. And yes, I read a book, the Quran. Accept no substitutes

Eh, I read the Quran also. Or at least, an English translation of it. And the hadith. And a good deal of Arabic poetry and literature. I spent a LOT of time talking to Muslims in the class (and made friends in the process) and went to prayers at a mosque. I guess that in my case, it really and truly is not where I am supposed to be.

So you converted to Islam based SOLELY on reading the Quran? That is highly unusual. Takes all kinds to make the world go round, eh?

Let me elaborate on that a bit more. As far as I'm concerned, all that land is Eretz Yisrael, even if it is not part of the state of Isreal, and belongs by birthright to the sons of Isreal, given to them by G-d. That doesn't mean that non-Jews may not live in the land. Even a cursory reading of Torah shows there has always been gentiles in Yisrael. But there are terms and conditions for them living there, and living there peacefully is the first thing on the list.

Joshua is famous for his battle in which the sun stood still. However, this battle was not fought in defense of Israel. It was fought to defend a GENTILE city which had allied itself with Israel.

What do we learn from this? We learn what the Palestinians COULD have. They COULD have self rule. They COULD have peace. They COULD even have Israel's protection. But only if they ally themselves with Israel, rather than making Israel into their enemy.

Because as you know, Israel deals with enemies quite differently.

You sound fascist...

Not to forget, lose everything you own in the process?
Oh come on. Sheesh. You know this is why Palestinian advocates lose their credibility. You exaggerate, and then people don't want to listen to you anymore.

What a worthless post. A sweeping ad hominem without a word of argument. If I replied what you sound like, it would violate common kindness as well as forum rules.

Did you have to involuntarily relocate to another country?
Irrelevant. A relocation away from family and friends to another location where the culture is different is always traumatic when it is involuntary.

There isn't anything to argue... you're talking about how there aren't any refugees, how there needs to be a fight to the death, you ridicule serious attempts to bring about peace and you think all of this is appropriate because of some sort of God given right to be special. You're not special, and none of that has to do with God. That's evil. You don't need to argue with evil, it's axiomatic... you merely have to point it out and choose to embrace it or reject it.

For the time being, the outside world pretty much agrees on their refugee status, and considers Israel liable to do something about it. Like stop the whole colonialism thing.

Care to tell me exactly how that was an inaccurate exaggeration?

Love you, Annette. I hope you're doing ok.

This isn't anti-Arab. It's anti-Carter and anti-Hamas. That's the difference. I don't look down on ethnicities. I look down on behaviors.

Except that you don't. You tag all of a certain ethnic group with the labels "terrorist" and "Amalekite" and then advocate killing every one of them.
